Job Summary:We are currently looking for a Quality and Patient Safety Specialist to join our dynamic team in the heart of Downtown Toronto. Reporting to Senior Director Quality Risk, Patient Safety and Performance, the Quality and Patient Safety Specialist will provide support to all departments within the organization in the areas of quality improvement, risk management, patient safety, and the patient experience. Responsibilities:
  • Assists and provides leadership with healthcare accreditation preparation, documentation, education, and related activities
  • Leads patient and staff experience survey design, implementation, measurement, and evaluation
  • Coordinates the collection and analysis of quality data and performance indicators, using valid measurement tools and statistical analysis
  • Creates dashboards, reports, and infographics for patients, the organization and external stakeholders
  • Maintains records and submissions required to manage contractual quality standards for the delivery of care and service
  • Facilitates incident reviews/analysis to determine root causes and corrective actions
  • Monitors resources, progress, and measures for the organization Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) and Patient Safety Plan
  • Leads internal safety surveillance/audits
  • Liaises with HR related to employee injuries/accidents and assists with reports to management and the Occupational Health and Safety Committee
  • Supports and assists in training to improve quality improvement, risk and patient safety across all areas of the organization
  • Plans, designs, implements, and maintains the overall risk management process for the organization
  • Risk assessment, analysis, evaluation, and mitigation
  • Advises the management team on legislation and changing environment related to quality and risk, health care, staff safety and privacy
  • Additional duties as required
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in healthcare or comparable industry
  • Completion of relevant post-secondary education ideally in a health related field
  • Experience leading healthcare accreditation (eg. Accreditation Canada, CARF Canada)
  • Training/certification in areas of Quality Improvement, Risk Management, Patient Safety, Evaluation and Project management preferred
  • CRM, PMP, Lean Six Sigma, Data Management, Data Analytics designations are assets
  • Demonstrated research and evaluation skills
  • Strong presentation, teaching, and computer skills
