We continually seek to be the trusted voice in transforming Ontario’s health-care system by courageously pursuing best practices, new ideas, solutions, and opportunities to improve.Job summaryReporting to the Director, Government Relations and Advocacy, the Sr. Administrator provides support towards the implementation of the OMA’s plans to influence key decision-makers in government and stakeholders through effective advocacy.How you will make a difference

  • Coordinating with external offices and internal staff to arrange meetings between the OMA and MPPs, political staff, political party officials, ministry officials and decision-makers, stakeholders, physicians and physician leaders and others.
  • Providing general administrative support to the government relations team including initiating routine and non-routine correspondence; maintaining meeting calendars and arranging travel schedules and reservations.
  • Developing and/or reviewing briefing notes, and presentations to executives to support external and internal meetings.
  • Note-taking at internal and external meetings (including with elected officials).
  • Coordinating internal cross-functional meeting logistics.
  • Supporting all activities related to the execution of the OMA government relations and advocacy strategy, including but not limited to MPP and political party outreach and tracking, drafting newsletters, organizing small and major events
  • Maintaining and developing contact management systems including lists of OMA physician health care advocates, stakeholders and other supporters and design basic analytic dashboards.
  • Assisting the government relations and advocacy team with monitoring, analysis and summaries of relevant legislation, regulations, and policy announcements.
  • Providing support in reporting to senior executives and the OMA Board on government relations activities and metrics.
  • Providing support and project management as needed to the government relationsamp; advocacy team in day-to-day activities, research projects and overall team organization.
  • Processing honoraria for physician members participating on government relations and advocacy meetings and events.
  • Acts as a member of the Administrative Professionals Forum.
Requirements that are important to us
  • Degree in Political Science, Communications and/or community college programs in public affairs or equivalent.
  • 3-4 years, administrative experience.
  • Experience working at Queen’s Park for an MPP or Minister or volunteering for a political campaign is an asset.
  • Superior organizational and time management skills to deal with multiple tasks across different activities.
  • Excellent written skills with superior attention to detail including the ability to draft documents and review and edit the materials of team members.
  • Strong interest and knowledge of Ontario politics and the political process.
  • Knowledge of the health care policy and stakeholder environment is an asset.
  • Strong technical skills in Microsoft Office including Power Point, Excel and Word.
  • Working skills in Smartsheet is an asset.
The OMA has moved to a permanent hybrid work environment. As such, the individual in this position will be required to work a minimum number of days in our Toronto office.What do we have to offer you
