Position SummaryWorking within the Education Department, as a college program coordinator, you will focus on the development, implementation, evaluation, and administration of a wide variety of post-secondary and pre-employment programs. You will be a member of an interdisciplinary, collaborative team, liaising with other professionals, students, family members, and the community to provide students with holistic, culturally focused education. What you’ll doSeabird College, Post-Secondary; funding, programming, compliance and reporting:
  • Oversee college programs not limited to; Trades, adult dogwood, post-secondary dual credits for trades and other post-secondary programs
  • Oversee post-secondary program deliverables
  • Develop and submit proposals, fund raising initiatives, and joint ventures with other post-secondary institutions
  • Manage program budgets and grant deliverables
  • Plan, coordinate, and evaluate of the delivery of post-secondary and continuing education programs
  • Liaise with provincial and federal education governing bodies on Adult Dogwood and post-secondary matters, including compliance and timely reporting
    • (Private Training Institutions Branch, First Nations Education Steering Committee (FNESC) etc.)
  • Lead a task group on strategic post-sec planning and monitoring of deliverables
  • Work to implement and grow dual credit opportunity and completion
  • Regular reporting to College Board, affiliates, partners
Advocacy, compliance, funding:
  • Ratify and implement necessary actions to transition to Education Jurisdiction
  • Liaise with provincial and federal education governing bodies
    • Letter of Agreement (LEA) with School District 78
    • Aboriginal Education Council (AEC) Fraser Cascade
    • First Nations Education Steering Committee (FNESC)
    • First Nations Schools Association (FNSA)
  • Assist with managing post-secondary planning, strategic plan deliverables and reporting
  • Liaise with Principal for administrative matters
  • Ensure and oversee large-scale post-secondary promotion in high school grades 9-12
  • Funding and reporting: nominal roll, 1701
  • Following Ingenious Services Canada (ISC) National Guidelines: Post-secondary
Education Committee:
  • Assist in meeting agendas, minutes, reports for the Education Committee, action items
  • Assist with Education Committee governance policy / terms of reference, committee member terms and nomination process
  • Ensure Local Education Agreement (LEA) and Aboriginal Education Committee (AEC) action items are being tracked/followed
  • Community updates and reports
Other:
  • Working with post-secondary institutions to create bridging opportunities for youth in the program into post-secondary (dual credits, advanced standing, etc.)
  • Other duties or responsibilities as assigned by your Supervisor, Manager, Director, or the ED
What you bring
  • Working towards or A bachelors degree in education, discipline such as social science, or business administration is required.
  • 3+ years’ experience working in an Education related field
  • 3+ years of experience working in leadership position and skills in relation to planning, scheduling, costing, controlling and creating work plans;
  • 3+ years’ experience in network-building
  • Ability to adhere to Oath of Confidentiality and Seabird Island Band Policies and Procedure.
  • Knowledge and respect of Stó:lō culture, traditions and language is considered an asset.
  • Experience working with First Nations children and the community is considered an asset.
  • Valid BC Driver’s License, Class 5.
