Job Description

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITYAgassiz Weed Control District requires aWeed Control AssistantFor the R.M.’s of Brokenhead and Lac du Bonnet,Town’s of Beausejour and Lac du Bonnet and Tyndall-GarsonThis is a Seasonal position with the option for re-hire each year. The position runs from April.15th-Oct.31stwith flexibility to start later or finish earlier if needed. The job requires you to be on-site at the Brokenhead planning district offices. Some of the task performed would include assisting the Weed Control Supervisor with spraying roadside ditches and properties for Noxious Weeds, Larviciding, scouting for noxious weeds, mowing and other vegetation management projects throughout the Brokenhead and Lac du bonnet municipalities.

  • Agricultural background would be an asset
  • Knowledge of the Noxious Weeds Act of Manitoba would be an asset
  • Experience with state of the art pesticide application technology and equipment would be an asset
  • Must have or be able to obtain Pesticide Applicators License
  • Experience in the use of sprayers, mowers, trucks, tractors and ATV’s safely
  • Computer skills
  • Knowledge of GPS technology would be asset
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must be self-motivated, work with minimal supervision
  • Wage is $20-$25 dependent on experience
