Position Summary:Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Packaging Supervisor is responsible for supervising day-to-day operations, conducting root cause analysis and correcting operating issues, ensuring safe working conditions, meeting key targets, identifying and leading continuous improvement initiatives and ensuring packaging objectives are met.Key Accountabilities:Ensures compliance to Workplace Health & Safety legislation; ensures all workers understand safety requirements, working environment is safe for all workers, conducts accident investigations to determine root cause and implements corrective actions; focuses on incident prevention, hazard identification and implements necessary controls and training to rectify all unsafe conditionsEnforces HACCP & GMP procedures; displays ongoing commitment to food safetyAchieves objectives relating to product yield, food quality, labour efficiency, and volume targetsManages hourly staff attendance and performance, offering feedback as necessary. Works with HR if issues arise, delivering disciplinary actions if neededPresents professional and respectful attitude with both internal and external contacts, fosters a team atmosphere and exemplifies servant leadershipPossesses the ability to lead a team, develops associates and builds the team to solve routine operational issuesImplements and maintains 5S standards in the departmentConducts safety talks on a weekly basisTakes part on the food safety committeeInputs payroll hours into the system dailyRequirements:Completion of post-secondary education is an assetMinimum 5 years supervisory experience, preferably in a food manufacturing environmentKnowledge of HACCP, CFIA requirements, Health & Safety legislation and ESA guidelinesExcellent communication skills, both written and oral, a confident, decisive leader who is able to deal with conflict and achieve win-win resultsGood organizational, interpersonal, problem solving, leadership and motivational skillsLean Manufacturing experienceStrong adherence to meeting productivity, quality and safety requirementsAbility to organize and prioritize tasks rapidlyStrong computer skills in MS Office SuiteSofina Foods Inc. is committed to providing accessible employment practices that are in compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (‘AODA’).
