Procurement, the Procurement Manager, Indirect is responsible for procurement of indirect materials and services required to support Hexo Corp. The Procurement Manager must develop and implement a supplier strategy, following established purchasing policies and procedures and optimising price, delivery and terms through excellent relationship management of suppliers. The Procurement Manager, Indirect works in collaboration with other members of Supply Chain, Operations, Legal, Sales and Finance.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement a supplier strategy for indirect purchases, based on industry and market trends and conditions.
  • Research and approve cost of services. Set accurate annual standard costs for relevant services and manage within the annual budget based on production volumes.
  • Ensure all costs are accurately captured within the ERP system.
  • Ensure the quality of services meets Hexo Corp. specifications. Work with Suppliers to address quality issues that do not meet agreed upon standards.
  • Collaborate with internal partners to find creative ways to reduce costs throughout the year.
  • Identify potential suppliers and establish contracts/commitments on behalf of Hexo Corp.
Identify and evaluate available suppliers. Develop evaluation criteria that include supplier communication, manufacturing or service delivery competency, capacity analysis, commitment to quality and safety, supply chain control, financial stability, cost containment and improvement, delivery and quality consistency, company culture, and cleanliness.Help with selecting the most reliable vendors that fit Hexo’s needsDevelop and implement supplier ratings-scorecardsDevelop key metrics.Develop, execute and share best practices and ensure optimal efficiencies.Analyze vendor performance metrics to assess performance and develop improvement action plans and implement improvement plans within agreed timeframes.Establish annual plan and budget for the procurement of raw materials and packaging.Working with Finance, develop monthly budget reports as well as ongoing latest estimates, reviewing monthly spending variances, and taking appropriate action as necessary.Ensure compliance with provincial, federal and/or international laws and regulations.Ensure safety compliance at all levels.Ensure safety ratings are reported and are within company guidelines.Ensure health and safety is a top priority and vendors are fully aware of Hexo’s safety policies and programs.Assist in the building and development of relationships with local, national and/or international vendors.Adhere to corporate sourcing policies and procedures when dealing and liaising with vendors.Work with internal teams to resolve any arising constraints, bottleneck and/or problems in the supply chain, and thoroughly address complaints/service failures to improve overall corporate services rating.Collaborate with other departments to ensure harmony consistently across the organization.REQUIREMENTS:
  • College degree in business administration, supply chain management or other related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ broad-based working experience in procurement and proven record of successfully managing the procurement portion of the supply chain.
  • Customer centric approach is essential for the successful execution of this role.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage staff.
  • Proficient in procurement and Supply Chain software.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects.
  • Industry certifications are an asset.
  • Bilingualism, oral and written French and English, is an asset.
  • Strong analytical, planning and organizational skills.
  • Innovative thinking with ability to deliver continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong leadership capabilities and a results orientation .
  • Ability to participate and lead cross-functional teams and develop rapport with all levels of the organization.
  • Highly developed communication skills with ability to influence and negotiate.
  • Knowledge of Project Management fundamentals.
  • Proficient in the use of software applications such as Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and an ERP system.
