With its management philosophy, half a century of experience in recycling, and continuous efforts in research and development as driving forces, Cascades continues to deliver the innovative products that customers have come to rely on.CASCADES CONTAINERBOARD PACKAGINGThe Containerboard Packaging Group, a division of Cascades, is the largest containerboard producer in Canada, and is also a top converter of corrugated products in the country. The Group manufactures a wide range of products made from recycled fibres for its North American customers in the food, beverage and consumer products sectors, among many others. The Division, which employs close to 3,400 people, owns six containerboard mills and nineteen corrugated products plants in Canada and the United States.Your challenge!Reporting to the Production Manager, the Production Supervisor’s mission is to achieve the operational efficiency objectives associated with his or her units business strategy by optimizing available resources, rigorously applying business processes and establishing an effective communication system. You ensure the optimal management of occupational health and safety, target production sequence and product compliance with quality standards. You closely monitor operating parameters and, if necessary, develop an action plan to close performance gaps or resolve anomalies. You also build a mobilized and competent team and support their production efforts while nurturing a culture of continuous improvement. As a result, you contribute to the achievement of your units manufacturing objectives by positively influencing the adoption of healthy and safe behaviours, operating costs, performance, and production capacity and quality.Job ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Production Manager, the successful candidate will have the following main functions:

  • Supervise, co-ordinate and schedule activities of workers.
  • Establish methods to meet work schedules and co-ordinate work activities with other departments
  • Resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality
  • Train workers in job duties, safety procedures and company policies
  • Complete employee performance appraisals and administer disciplines as required
  • Prepare production and other reports
  • lead daily crew meetings with a focus on safety
  • work collaboratively with management to implement and uphold management/corporate decisions and initiatives
  • ensure production employees are adequately trained and adhering to Cascades policies and procedures
  • support and coach production employees to ensure that production and quality standards are being met daily
  • Complete weekly payroll approvals
Qualifications
  • 1 year of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Reliable, autonomous and demonstrate initiative;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent analytical/problem solving skills;
  • Good organizational skills;
  • Strong computer skills in all Microsoft software (Excel, Word, etc.);
  • Health and safety training (core certification, first aid) would be an asset.
  • Ability to work 8 hour shifts on a rotating 3 shift schedule
