Fundy Nursing Home is looking for a Consultant Dietitian to work 2 days per month.PURPOSE OF JOB:Resource to all staff, in-service regularly, preparation of therapeutic diets and counselling to residents.DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES:Assist in the Dietary Department in the identification of goals and objectives, and suggesting ways to meet these through the establishment and evaluation of programs.Assists the Food Service Manager to plan, organize, direct and implement the food service to ensure that the department functions optimally, in accordance with the philosophies, policies and objectives of the facility. Recommends projects and activities for the realization of the goals and objectives of administration.Administration and the Food Service Manager and Dietitian collaborate on implementation of changes.Staff Education – conducts training sessions with all appropriate staff on a regular basis.Development of health interdepartmental relationshipsRevision of cyclic menu to ensure that it meets the recommendations of Canada’s Food Guide, the nutritional needs of the residents, their food preference within reason and seasonal traditions.The Consultant Dietitian and the Food Service Manager must assure that the menu meets budgetary guidelines, in both food and human resources.Participate in Care Plan meetings and Interdisciplinary to regularly update dietary concerns/changes of residents.Supervise the follow-through on diet orders, and discuss with medical, nursing and dietary staff as required.Chart appropriate comments concerning diet and recommendations in the Interdisciplinary record.Recommend appropriate diet orders and changes to medical and nursing staff as required.Provide information to residents and all staff as needed to ensure effective and consistent treatment of therapeutic diet orders.Conduct meal rounds periodically to obtain feedback from residents and staff at meal times and to assist in ongoing evaluation and improvement of service.Complete a nutritional assessment of each new resident upon admission as well as regular reassessment to meet changing resident needs.Develop a dietary profile including likes and dislikes, allergies, therapeutic diets, height, weight, meal patterns, etc., for each resident.OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:a) Resident and family instruction and education.i) provide nutritional/diet education as requiredii) teach self-care in diet maintenance if applicableb) Develop and maintain interpersonal relationships with resident, families and staff.c) Keep resident information confidential and respect resident’s right to privacy.d) Participate in in-service programs for self enrichment to maintain the high quality of food service and counselling and seek further growth through other educational opportunities.e) Maintain involvement in professional associations and related associations.f) Complies with all professional, regulatory and nursing home standards, policies and procedures.g) Develop and maintain a program to assess and monitor oral/dental conditions of the resident.QUALIFICATIONS:- Bachelor’s Degree in Food and Nutrition- Recognized dietetic internship or equivalent.- Membership in the CDA and NBDA or eligibility for the sameRATE OF PAY: Based on experience.Job Type: Part-timeSalary: $27.16-$40.00 per hourFlexible Language Requirement:
