This position will provide a variety of administrative supports to ensure the smooth functioning of the office. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to Indigenous cultural values and principles and possess excellent organizational and communication skills. The Administrative Assistant will work closely with the Senior Executive Assistant and will report to the Executive Director.Key Responsibilities:

  • Administrative supports: coordinating meetings and taking detailed meeting minutes, arranging travel for Senior Leadership Team, and managing various administrative requests from the Administration Team.
  • Office management: ensure the office is well stocked and efficiently functioning, troubleshooting minor issues.
  • Data management: assisting in the preparation of reports, presentations and other documentation for the Senior Leadership Team and/or the Board of Directors.
  • Collaboration and communication: work collaboratively with team members and departments to ensure efficiencies of information.
  • Prioritize tasks and mange multiple responsibilities effectively and efficiently.
  • Cultural competency: demonstrate an understanding and respect for Indigenous cultures and protocols in all aspects of the work environment, and actively support a culturally safe environment for staff, clients and community.
Working conditions:
  • This position may require occasional evening and weekend work.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma: post-secondary education in office administration, business, or related field is an asset.
  • A minimum of 2 years experience in an administrative role, preferable within a non-profit or social services context.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous cultures and the issues impacting Indigenous communities.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, and a strong knowledge of office management systems and procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook and experience with database management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A strong commitment to teamwork and community engagement.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work.
  • Clear of Criminal Record Check is required.
What we offer:
  • Starting wage $22/hr. to 25/hr. based on educations and experience.
