  • Bylaw Officer (18 hours per week):
    • Assist in the development, application, and amendments to municipal bylaws.
    • Provide public education on all municipal bylaws.
    • Investigate and enforce all Village of Burns Lake Bylaws including by not limited to animal control, building, business licence, fireworks, signs, zoning, water and sewer, wood burning, unsightly premises, traffic, noise, etc.
    • Liaise with other municipal departments, the RCMP and community partners to resolve issues collaboratively.
    • Completion of documentation relative to bylaw investigation, enforcement activities, and report to Council as required.
    • Maintain the bylaw complaints tracking system.
    • Preparation of required reports and documents in the event of a dispute.
    • Issue enforcement actions, including tickets and ‘notice to comply’.
  • Protective Services Technician (11 hours per week):
    • Responds to fire and emergencies while on and off duty as required.
    • Assist in developing and implementing training drills and fire practice activities.
    • Assist with Fire Prevention activities, including fire hall visits and school tours.
    • Assist with the maintenance, repair, and replacement of firefighting equipment, fire hall and other properties of the department
  • Emergency Program Coordinator (7 hours per week)
    • Update and maintain the Village’s Emergency Plan including the Hazard Risk and Vulnerability Matrix, and the Evacuation plan.
    • Act as the Emergency Operations Centre Director for any emergency in the municipality.
    • Ensure village staff are trained to fill their roles within the EOC.
    • Serve as a member of the Emergency Executive Committee and chair the Emergency Planning Committee.
    • Liaise with the RDBN on emergencies and incidents which impact both jurisdictions.
