Enjoy unique experiences, close connections with communities, and a strong focus on professional development opportunities, as well as the natural wonders of the northern BC while you work.The Opportunity: The Supported Child Development Liaison provides support to children in their developmental journey and to families and childcare centers to help them enhance the child’s development. Scope: Aboriginal Supported Child Development (ASCD) is a community based program that is designed to specifically meet the needs of children with special needs. ASCD is grounded on the belief that inclusion, early intervention and support is important during the early stages of development. The program enables children who require extra support to participate in settings that will support their development. For example, but not limited to childcare center, Head Start, Daycare, etc.

  • Receives child and family referrals to the Supported Child Development Program.
  • Provides professional assessment, reviews documentation and reports from a number of specialists and sources on the children to determine their eligibility into the program.
  • Identifies children who meet the program criteria and ensures their eligibility is documented based on professional assessment.
  • Links and brokers individuals and groups to support and deliver developmental support interventions to eligible children.
  • Increases community capacity to provide services to developmentally challenged children and parents:
  • Undertakes client discharge / transition planning, follow-up and additional individual and group interventions

  • ECE Basic and Post Basic Education; or post graduate courses related to child development and special needs (e.g. Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Psychology) with minimum two years’ experience.
  • Basic First Aid Level One
