Project Details

• Location: Burns Lake, British Columbia area
• Start Date: ASAP
• Duration: 8 weeks
• Shift: Monday to Saturday, 12 hours per day
• Camp accommodations is provided at 7 Mile Lodge, located approximately 15 km’s south of Burns Lake, BC on provincial HWY35.

Your Opportunity with Michels CanadaMichels Canada is a union contractor primarily seeking experienced and qualified members from across Canada, but all qualified applications are being considered.Your Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
• Operate various models of Side Booms (Pipe Layers) to lift, carry and place sections of 48” steel pipe as part of regular day to day crew functions, single lift, tandem lifts, multiple unit (greater than 2) lifts.
• Operate equipment safely in adverse terrain such as steep slopes, congested workspaces, and in winter weather conditions with extreme caution and awareness of potential hazards to ensure site safety.
• Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections, maintain equipment checklist, identify, and report any maintenance concerns with the equipment.
• Must be comfortable working in various weather conditions.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• Minimum 3 years’ experience working as an operator of Side Booms (Pipe Layers) on large diameter (36-48”) pipeline projects
• Experience operating one or more of the following hydraulic pipelayer models: CAT PL87, CAT 587T, John Deere PL220, Liebherr RL64
• Previous experience with tie ins, watercourse crossings, lower in, trenching crews, steep slopes, and multiple unit lifts.
• Proof of previous Side Boom Pipelayer competency or completion of an accredited pipelayer certification course or program
• Employment conditional on successful completion of skills assessment
• Employment conditional on successful completion of Pipeline Construction Safety Training, training provided if necessary
• First Aid is an asset but not required
• A negative pre access drug and alcohol test result is required before access to the work site is granted.
