TEACHING VACANCY: POSTING NO. 89 – October 4, 2022School: Burns Lake and Area SchoolsStart Date: February 1, 2023 to June 30, 2023Assignment: .40 LIMITED DURATION POSITIONDISTRICT SPEECH AND LANGUAGE PATHOLOGISTMUST HAVE ACCESS TO RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION – TRAVEL TO DIFFERENT SCHOOLS IN OUTLYING COMMUNITES IS REQUIREDQualifications:committed to making collaborative decisions about instructional design and selection of instructional materials based on data related to student learningEligible for membership in the Canadian Association of Speech and Language Pathologists and Audiologists and/or the BC Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and AudiologistsMust have Masters Level Training or equivalent in speech and language pathologyTraining in Hanen methodologies would be an assetPossess strong organizational, time, and general management skillsExperience in assessing speech and language needs of students with autism and other disabilitiesExperience in working with educational teams with problem solving and implementationKnowledge of AAC devicesExperience in designing programs for students with autism and other disabilitiesHold a valid Class 5, B.C. Driver’s License and an exemplary driving record as demonstratedby a current driver’s abstract.specific assignment to be determined by the school principals, in consultation with the District Principal of Student ServicesKey tasks and expectations related to this specialist position will involve:Working with educational staff to assess and design programs for students with a variety of disabilitiesWriting programs to support students and supporting implementationTravel to different schools in outlying communitiesWill involve working with other agencies and support peopleCommunication with parentsSPECIFIC ASSIGNMENT TO BE DETERMINED BY THE DIRECTOR OF INSTRUCTIONProfessional dispositions are defined here as the values, commitments and professional ethics that influence an educator’s approach to their work.
