Bird is a place where you will unlock your potential and achieve your goals.Reporting to the Controller, Southern Alberta, the Accounts Payable Administrator will be responsible for accounting, project and general office administration.This position will be based in the Calgary, AB office.Responsibilities

  • Receive, review and organize supplier, material and overhead invoices with accuracy for approval and payment into Viewpoint (ERP) system.
  • Complete data entry into Viewpoint.
  • Prepare batches of invoices to the Finance Department.
  • Monitor and maintain vendor accounts to ensure payments are received and up to date.
  • Enter expense reports for craft labour employees as required.
  • Complete bank deposits.
  • Follow up on open purchase orders and invoices that have not been approved.
  • Complete digital filing.
  • Respond to vendor inquiries received via email and telephone.
  • Prepare various reports and analysis, as required.
  • Manage centralized AP inbox.
  • Maintain strong working relationship with purchasing department.
  • Ability to adapt to changing ERP system planned for end of year.
  • Perform month-end and quarter end duties as required.
  • Provide vacation coverage for other Districts as required.
  • Other accounting duties as assigned.
What We Are Looking For
  • Accounting Diploma or equivalent experience.
  • At least 3 years of related experience that demonstrates your ability to work well in a office environment
  • Experience with construction accounting is preferred
  • Proficient with MS Office software including; MS Excel, MS Word and MS Outlook
  • Experience using Viewpoint is an asset
  • Demonstrates a willingness to learn new ways to accomplish work activities and objectives
  • Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships with multiple groups
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities, capable of handling pressure and challenges in a dynamic business environment
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritization of work to achieve them
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated sense of urgency and strong commitment to achieving goals; ability to work in challenging, fast paced and steadily changing environment
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a positive attitude
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
