We made air travel more affordable for Canadians and now were going global.Join us and love where you’re going.Remote Work:This position is eligible for remote work, within Calgary Alberta, under our mobile workforce program.Overview of the role:WestJet Cargo is seeking an Advisor, Training to join our team. This individual can exhibit a high standard of excellence, enjoys challenges, and is results-driven. The incumbent must be highly motivated and demonstrate the ability to work in an agile environment.Reporting to the Senior Manager Cargo Operations, the Advisor Training will support WestJet Cargo organization by facilitating internal and external training. The advisor for training will work closely with the Advisor, Standards and Procedures, the Cargo leadership team and industry experts to design and facilitate industry leading content to all WestJet Cargo employees and external supporting partners around our network. Approximately 25% travel will be required in this position to ensure a high level of compliance across our organization.Key deliverables include:

  • Ensure training requirements are met with a high level of compliance across the organization and our partners
  • Deliver high quality initial and recurrent training of customer service, technical and regulatory programs to WestJet Cargo employees, new and existing industry partners, including Train the Trainer format and direct training to participants
  • Participate in station startup activities related to training, including the development of bespoke station content when required
  • Facilitate both procedural and technical training in person and/or in a virtual classroom environment
  • Schedule, organize and coordinate all training sessions in conjunction with the Cargo leadership team
  • Enforce and audit monthly training matrix content and compliance, with specific training file spot checks monthly
  • Organize and participate in testing/training of air cargo management system enhancements and new product roll out(s) to ensure a high level of success/compliance
  • Perform training on new or enhanced standards and processes, new functionality of software
  • Support quality analysis initiatives and maintain expert-level knowledge of the software and best practices
  • Liaise with Learning and Development and Standards teams by providing continuous feedback to maintain high quality training programs
  • Maintain a high level of subject matter expertise through ongoing industry learning and conference.
  • Create and manage a positive, productive learning environment (both in person and virtual classroom settings)
  • Support the creation and the improvement of e-learning modules
  • Demonstrate readiness to assume additional duties and responsibilities based on qualifications and operational training requirements
Experience and qualifications:
  • At least 3 years of experience in the airfreight business, with an airline operation background and deep knowledge of the Air Cargo industry
  • Thorough knowledge on warehouse and ramp operations
  • Knowledge on lashing procedures, and loading of heavy equipment is considered an asset
  • Certified load master with license of different A/C types. License of B737-BCF is considered an asset
  • Strong knowledge of the IATA regulations (DGR, PER, AVI)
  • A demonstrated proficiency with computers, and recent experience using Windows-based software
  • Proven ability to manage stressful situations with changing priorities, able to multitask and preform steadily under extreme pressure
  • Technical aptitude and motivation to learn new software and programs
  • Excellent planning, organization, and time management skills
  • Experienced in establishing business relationships; proven ability to collaborate and communicate with all levels of management is required
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills
  • Experience in adult facilitation specifically teaching procedural and technical training; with experience training in other countries is considered an asset
  • Must hold a valid passport; with the ability to obtain work Visa as required
  • Must be able to obtain a Restricted Area Identification Card
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and evening as needed
  • Ability to accommodate business travel requirements
