Our strong entrepreneurial spirit, together with a culture of empowerment, quality and innovation create opportunities to grow and succeed in an organization with a proud heritage and bright future.ProfileThe Chief Aerostructures will be responsible for overseeing a group of Structures and Systems Engineering Designers, interacting with various supporting departments, ensuring proposed design changes meet project milestones.LocationThis position will be located on-site in Toronto, ON, or Calgary, AB.Duties & ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions

  • Familiarity with typical aircraft structures and systems architecture.
  • Proficiency with mechanical design practices.
  • Have good knowledge of Catia v5 and Enovia, as well as common work packages.
  • Manage a group of engineers with work distribution, communications, equipment, development.
  • Participate in resource planning activities and budgetary preparations.
  • Be able to analyze complex problems, devise new or modified approaches, drive towards improved conclusions.
  • Makes decisions and recommendations on technical issues autonomously and sets priorities on a mid to long term range.
  • Demonstrates specific skills in coordinating resources and deliverables in a cross functional environment amongst business units.
  • Be able to explain difficult concepts and persuade others to adopt a point of view.
  • Provide technical leadership, coaching, mentoring, training on a regular basis to direct reports.
Additional Functions
  • Actively works to improve daily processes and ensures all work meets customer requirements.
  • Maintains a current knowledge of developments in the field of specialty and/or other related aircraft fields to recommend innovations to improve quality and effectiveness of company product.
  • Performs other duties such as Internal Audit Support, Airworthiness containment activities and corrective action implementation.
Education & Professional Qualifications
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Engineering - Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 10 years or more in a technical and leadership environment in the aircraft industry.
Experience
  • Licensed or eligible for licensing as a Professional Engineer.
Skills
  • Strong leadership, problem solving, flexibility and project management skills.
  • Team player with a strong sense of initiative, responsibility, and good judgment.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and spoken) in English.
