Job Description

About:Our client, a leader in the e-commerce space, is looking for their next Chief Technology Officer.   • Lead, inspire, and mentor a team of 30 talented engineers while encouraging collaboration in the workplace.
  • Oversee all day-to-day activities in development including infrastructure, operations, cybersecurity, data governance, data management, systems design, and enterprise architecture.
  • Develop a long-term strategic roadmap that supports company goal and objectives.
  • Maintain industry leading uptime on critical technology infrastructure through great architectural decisions, effective monitoring, and testing processes.
  • Maintain a hands-on approach to management while implementing best practices and procedures.
  • Sharing in-depth programming experience and knowledge amongst developers to plan further technology developments for the organization.
  • Monitor KPI’s and IT budgets to assess technological performance.
  • Attend, report, and advise board meetings with managing partners as required.
  • Ensure data privacy and system security compliance.
  • Work closely with developers, understanding where they are finding success and where they need work.
  • Ability to recognize, recruit and develop talent within the organization.
  • Effectively communicate strategy to managing partners.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years of CTO experience with an established organization.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field. A graduate degree is an asset.
  • Deep hands-on technical experience with PHP, MySQL, Pearl, AWS, and Agile methodologies.
  • Experience leading and managing a team of 25+ employees.
  • Strategic mindset and desire to solve business challenges.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills while effectively communicating complex technical information to a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, prioritizing, and resolving complex issues in an effective manner.
  • Experience with a start-up is an asset.
  • Exceptional team management skills.
