Job Description

Reporting to the Lead, Executive Recruitment, the Executive Talent Partner is responsible for supporting full-cycle executive search projects across WestJet’s Global Leadership Team (GLT) which is comprised of Executive Vice Presidents, Vice Presidents and Directors. The successful candidate will work directly with the Lead, Executive Recruitment and the Global Leadership Team to identify, attract, assess, and retain industry leading talent, while also providing support across a variety of GLT recruitment related projects and initiatives.The Executive Talent Partner will be the primary support to the Lead, Executive Recruitment and will be required to quickly build credibility and relationships among peers across the People and Culture (P&C) leadership team, and the respective leaders in the Corporate, Operations, and Commercial groups. While the initial focus will be providing support to the Lead, Executive Recruitment, the Executive Talent Partner will gradually assume additional scope and responsibility and will ultimately run full-cycle executive recruitment process across the GLT.This is a unique opportunity to be part of an in-house executive search team with one of Canada’s most recognized brands and admired corporate cultures, and the Executive Talent Partner will play a pivotal role in WestJet’s ongoing growth on a global scale.Role and Responsibilities:

  • Support full-cycle executive search assignments through close collaboration the Lead, Executive Recruitment and WestJet’s GLT. This includes scheduling interviews, coordinating leadership assessments, facilitating executive interviews and tours, and collaborating across additional projects and initiatives.
  • Liaise with third-party executive search firms to develop position descriptions and other role related materials, schedule update calls and interviews, and ensure seamless partnership through the duration of a search.
  • Partner with the Executive Assistant team to efficiently book executive interviews both via video conference and in-person.
  • Initially participate in, and subsequently lead kick-off meetings, sourcing strategy development, mapping, sourcing and candidate pre-screening, scheduling and conducting interviews, development of candidate presentations, offer negotiations, and conducting comprehensive referencing.
  • In partnership with the Lead, Executive Recruitment, liaise with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and GLT to manage critical search and talent initiatives across WestJet. This includes the preparation of interview and assessment materials for the ELT, GLT, and Board of Directors.
  • In addition to supporting GLT recruitment activity conducted in-house and via third-parties, lead some full-cycle Director level roles in-house.
  • Support administrative tasks including booking interviews, third-party meetings, and internal meetings as required. This includes closely partnering with Global Mobility to support relocation, immigration, and onboarding related activities.
  • Support the ongoing development of a best-in-class leadership recruitment strategy aimed at identifying, attracting, assessing, and retaining industry leading talent.
  • Develop strong relationships across the airline industry and support the ongoing development of a talent pipeline for critical and difficult to fill roles.
  • Represent WestJet in the global marketplace as a brand ambassador, acting on behalf of the Global Leadership Team in managing candidate interactions.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the airline industry and relay market intelligence, feedback, and executive talent trends back to WestJet’s GLT.
  • Support the vendor management strategy which includes building partnerships and relationships with key executive search firms and evaluating future partnerships via proposals and master service agreements.
  • Leverage a multi-channel sourcing strategy to identify, attract, and assess high-performing talent. This includes cold-calling and networking across multiple industries.
  • Provide perspective on the effectiveness of senior recruitment and business initiatives in each business unit and develop a thorough understanding of the key issues that require action.
  • Develop candidate materials for distribution among the GLT, including but not limited to search update presentations, candidate interview reports, assessment matrices, and reference reports.
  • Be a trusted coach and advisor on matters related to executive search and recruitment within the organization.
  • Assess the airline industry and general industry best practices in executive search.
  • Monitor the status of executive search in Canada and globally; and advise on impact to business.
  • In accordance with WestJet’s global mobility program, support the work permit and immigration process. This includes partnering with third-party firms and consultants.
  • Partner with WestJet’s Compensation team to model candidate compensation, evaluate tax implications, and develop employment offers.
  • Develop comprehensive candidate maps and talent pipelines.
  • Maintain strict adherence to candidate confidentiality.
Experience:
  • Three or more years of related experience as an accomplished executive search, or Human Resources professional. Experience as an executive search researcher or recruiter at a global firm is preferred.
  • Must have demonstrated an entrepreneurial approach to executive search and/or recruitment.
  • Ideally a strong track record of sourcing and successfully placing senior leadership talent.
  • Proven experience managing multiple projects across a wide variety functions.
Required Skills:
  • The capability to interface and maintain effective relationships with all departments and employees in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proven organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects under tight deadlines with high visibility across key stakeholders.
  • Comfortable taking a “no invitation required” approach to relationship building.
  • Ability to develop, assess, understand implement senior recruitment and sourcing processes within a positive and inclusive environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and highly organized.
  • Highly collaborative and team-oriented approach.
  • A broad understanding of various human resources related business practices including immigration, employment equity and employment law.
  • Advanced and proven consulting and negotiation skills with superior ability to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Very strong communication skills.
  • Naturally curious, highly organized and detail-oriented self-starter that takes great pride in delivering high-quality results.
Education:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in commerce, human resources, economics is desired.
