Accommodations are available during the hiring process, upon request.As a Finance Coordinator, you will be a key liaison who provides system generated reporting to strategic finance personnel and their colleagues in operational business units. This position is involved in the development, testing, and maintenance of standardized financial reporting with a focus on improving management accounting at The City of Calgary. Primary duties include:

  • Develop standardized reports using SAP Web Intelligence & other tools with an emphasis Management Accounting, including costing, budgeting, planning, governance and performance management.
  • Serve as a liaison between Portfolio Finance, Information Technology, Corporate Budget Office, & Financial Operations to improve data accessibility and visibility. Provide expertise on cross functional teams related to system generated financial reporting.
  • Respond to a large volume and variety of client requests with competing deadlines.
  • Understand & communicate the reporting needs of diverse stakeholders under a variety of contexts & the impacts systems changes may have on existing financial processes.
  • Provide recommendations on data structures that are consistent with the greater strategic direction of The City.
  • Collect participant requirements for new report development, consolidate requirements into report specifications with corporate wide applicability.
  • Coordinate & contribute to other aspects of report development, including user acceptance testing, managing requests for new reports or changes to existing reporting, & required maintenance.
  • Analyze reporting outputs to provide assurance on the accuracy & reliability of financial data they contain.
  • Ensure consistency of formatting, presentation, and data across all system generated reporting provided by the Corporate Budget Office.
Qualifications
  • A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation and at least 5 years of related progressive financial experience, preferably focused on Management Accounting.
  • Experience using software for the development of system generated reporting.
  • Previous experience with PeopleSoft Financial Supply Chain Management (FSCM) and Human Capital Management (HCM) is considered an asset.
  • Understanding of relational databases & data analytics is also an asset.
  • Strong communication skills and able to articulate complex subject matter.
  • Success in this position requires strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, a proclivity to challenge the status quo, a commitment to learning & development, and the ability to collaborate with multiple partners.
