Hair Stylingamp; Barbering Instructor– CAD$25-CAD$35 Per Hour + Benefits – Calgary, ABThe RoleAre you a skilled hairstylist or barber ready to inspire the next generation Do you have the experience and teaching mindset to guide students toward successful careers in the beauty industry If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you.We are looking for a Hair Stylingamp; Barbering Instructor to join our growing team at NIWE Academy in Calgary, Alberta. You will lead classes of 15+ students, delivering both hands-on training and theoretical instruction aligned with Alberta apprenticeship and industry standards.This role will allow you to shape careers while maintaining high educational standards in a collaborative environment.If you are ready to inspire and prepare the next generation of beauty professionals, we would love to hear from youKey Responsibilities:Educational Leadership

  • Deliver comprehensive theoretical and practical instruction in hair styling and barbering techniques
  • Develop and update curriculum aligned with Alberta apprenticeship standards and industry trends
  • Create engaging lesson plans, assessments, and learning materials for hybrid learning environments
  • Prepare students for Red Seal examinations and provincial licensing requirements
Student Successamp; Performance Management
  • Monitor and improve key performance indicators including graduation rates and employment outcomes
  • Provide individualized mentorship and career guidance to diverse student populations
  • Conduct fair, objective skill assessments with constructive feedback
  • Implement data-driven strategies to enhance student success rates
Teamamp; Program Management
  • Lead and coordinate a team of 15+ hair styling and barbering students
  • Manage classroom resources, equipment maintenance, and supply budgets
  • Collaborate with the Academy Dean on program development and quality assurance
  • Maintain accurate records in our Eduley management system
Industryamp; Community Engagement
  • Build relationships with local salons and barbershops for student placements
  • Organize and supervise student participation in competitions and industry events
  • Stay current with industry innovations and integrate new techniques into curriculum
  • Represent NIWE Academy at industry functions and regulatory meetings

The Person:
  • Alberta Red Seal Certification in Hairstyling or equivalent
  • Active practicing license and liability insurance
  • Minimum 5-7 years professional salon/barbershop experience post-apprenticeship
  • Adult education certification or provincial instructor diploma (or willingness to obtain within 6 months)
  • Advanced proficiency in cutting, coloring, styling, and barbering techniques
  • Strong knowledge of sanitation, safety protocols, and infection control standards
  • Experience with diverse hair types and textures
  • Current with industry trends and emerging techniques
  • CMS and LMS requirements
  • Proven track record in team leadership and student mentorship
  • Experience tracking and improving educational KPIs
  • Demonstrated ability in curriculum development and lesson planning
  • Proficiency with digital learning platforms and educational technology
