At Swoop, our-day-to-day operations are vastly different and deliberately separate, but carefully aligned to complement the big-picture strategy of the WestJet Group.Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP)Reporting to the Senior Leader of HR, the HRBP will provide support and effective delivery of HR programs. The HRBP will provide advice and guidance related to the best practices across all functions of HR to leaders.Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver HR service and consultation across a spectrum of areas within a unionized or non-unionized environment including: Policy, Employment Legislation, Employee Relations, Investigations, Performance Management, Total Rewards, Disability Management, Benefits, Leadership Development, Employee Onboarding
  • Accountable to ensure that HR processes are compliant with company policies and current employment legislation;
  • Understanding business goals to recommend and implement HR solutions that are in line with Swoop’s culture and business strategy;
  • Provides coaching to leaders to assist them in effectively applying company policies, guidelines and regulations to employee issues and concerns (e.g., performance, behavior, conflict resolution, termination);
  • Provide coaching, advice, and feedback to the Swoop leaders with data-driven recommendations that help them improve team performance, retention, and the overall employee experience;
  • Assess and recommend practical solutions to often ambiguous and difficult people situations;
  • Works closely with the Legal Department to report and investigate employee relations concerns, and conduct investigations as needed in a practical, expedient, and discreet manner;
  • Partner with hiring managers to ensure a workforce plan and budget is in place to meet ongoing recruitment needs, in alignment with Swoop’s strategy;
  • Responsible to support short-term and long-term disability case management
Professional Experience/Qualifications:
  • 4+ years of HR generalist experience;
  • Solid knowledge of Canadian Federal and Provincial employment law;
  • Experience with Unions would be an asset.
  • A strong consulting orientation and client focus with the ability to build strong, positive relationships with client groups;
  • Critical thinker who can combine multiple sources of information to drive to practical solutions;
  • Strong track record in demonstrating Human Resources principles within a service delivery model;
  • The ability to be comfortable with high volume workload in a solutions focused environment which demands strong deliverables;
  • A positive, “roll up your sleeve” team-player attitude and customer focused approach to deal with challenging situations with integrity, empathy, and sincerity;
  • Experience with Workday or other HR Systems is a plus; proficiency with MS Office 365 programs including Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required;
Education/Designation:
  • Post-secondary education is required, with a preference for a Human Resource-related discipline;
  • CPHR Designation is an asset.
