Job Description

Title: Human Resources Generalist (1-year full-time contract)Location: CalgaryDirect Report: Vice PresidentH3M Environmental Ltd. provides environmental, archaeology, and regulatory expertise across Western Canada supporting clients in upstream and midstream oil and gas, municipal infrastructure, Indigenous communities, utilities, forestry, and commercial/industrial sector projects. As a full-scale service provider, H3M delivers pre-construction assessments, planning and permitting, construction, post-construction restoration, reclamation, and remediation services across multiple sectors.H3M is seeking a motivated HR Generalist who brings a broad knowledge of human resources functions, from hiring to onboarding and employee compensation to performance evaluation. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable of current and relevant legislation and workplace policies and can provide proactive HR consultation to management and staff. The right individual is collaborative, detail oriented and possesses strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills. The ability to prioritize and multitask is essential in this role. This is a full-time temporary contract (maternity cover) reporting to the Vice President.Role and Responsibilities:Employee Life Cycle (50%)

  • Talent acquisition, including job analysis and job description creation process, job advertisement, pre-screening, recruitment and selection, reference checking, and facilitating employment offers
  • Onboarding, including pre-employment set up, first day orientation, and new hire induction
  • Retention strategies, including rewards and recognition programs
  • Facilitating employee anniversary and milestone gifts
  • Employee separations, including termination process, and exit interviews
HR Administration (30%)
  • Monitor and maintain HR compliance obligations set by Employment Standards Act and other applicable laws within the province of British Columbia and Alberta in daily HR practices
  • Employment agreements and amendments preparation and execution
  • Processing compensation and position changes, and communicating with payroll
  • Group benefits administration
  • Leaves of absence administration, including return-to-work program
  • Job grant applications
  • Employee records (documents composition, distribution, and filling)
Employee Relations (20%)
  • Respond to employee inquiries, address employee concerns, and provide employee support
  • Support managers in resolving team conflicts, employee disagreements, confrontations, concerns, performance issues, and facilitating the corrective action process
Preferred Experience and Qualifications:
  • 3 years’ experience in an HR focused role
  • Certificate or Diploma in Human Resources
  • Understanding of the Employment Standards and other HR related legislation and regulations.
  • Knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies inhuman resources.
  • Some recruitment experience is required.
  • Experience using Bamboo HRIS would be considered a definite asset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ethics, and cultural awareness
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Great attention to details
  • High degree of independence
  • Aptitude for problem-solving and thorough knowledge of HR procedures and policies
