Job Description

Job PurposeThis is an exciting opportunity to play a key part in the evolution of Federation! Our ideal candidate comes with both small project and large project procurement experience, which includes buying and expediting of equipment, materials, and services.The procurement specialist will be engaged in projects ranging from refinery and gas projects, oilsands, energy generation, and SAGD, among others. This position is responsible for finding goods and services for the company at the best value regarding quality and price. Additional duties of this position include assisting the analysis and preparation of contracts, buying & expediting, and closely working with the project managers and project engineers as well as outside vendors to meet project requirements. This individual will also work closely with other disciplines to achieve optimal project outcome.Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesProcurement:

  • Ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement while adhering to client requirements and proper procurement practices
  • Identify suppliers of goods and services
  • Preparing the RFP/RFQ documents and bid tabulations
  • Coordinating the technical and cost review of submitted proposals
  • Negotiate terms with suppliers such as price, quality of goods, deadlines, expectations, etc.
  • Create purchase orders and tally these with supply requests and orders
  • Liaise with suppliers and project managers regarding updates and details of goods
  • Proactively performing expediting activities to ensure the delivery of equipment, materials, services, and related documentation
  • Developing and maintaining status reports
  • Managing routine and complex purchase orders and/or service orders
  • Analyze invoices to ensure accuracy of goods delivered
  • Establish proper organization, policy, and procedures for control of procurement of both project and operational support goods and services
  • Work closely with the projects team to understand details of procurement requirements
Build and Cultivate Client Relationships:
  • Engage current and potential clients in the marketplace
  • Cross sell procurement and/or engineering services to clients
  • Provide exceptional client service – dependable, responsive, sensible
Project Management:
  • May be required to act as single point of contact for procurement with the client’s supply chain department
  • Provide input into estimates for prospective client projects
Office Leadership:
  • Contribute to a dynamic workplace culture
Other duties and responsibilities as required.QualificationsSkills and Experience:
  • Minimum 6 years of proven experience working as a procurement specialist in the O&G/Chemical/Petrochemical industries
  • Additional certification in the field of procurement desired
  • Strong knowledge of the industry and market conditions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Impeccable negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and rapport building
  • Flexible to work long hours as demanded by projects
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently when required
  • Able to travel to meet vendors and suppliers as necessary

Working ConditionsFederation believes in providing flexible working arrangements for our office personnel. The Calgary office is located downtown in order to be proximate to the offices of our key clients and is always available for our employees but following a hybrid work schedule is also an option.From time to time, travel to client sites or other Federation offices may be required (up to 10%).Job Types: Full-time, PermanentBenefits:
