Job Description

JMJ TOP EXPERTS is one of the largest stone and solid surface manufacturers and supplier in Western Canada specializes in the fabrication and installation of beautiful stone, quartz, tile, and porcelain products.We provide granite and marble countertops and engineered stone countertops for commercial and residential applications. We believe our expert team combined with the newest technologies will provide the highest quality stone fabrication in central Alberta. Our commercial projects including YYC international Airport, Hotels, Schools, The Bow Tower, Calgary Cancer center, High end commercial recreation center, high end commercial office buildings, WestJet and Air Canada First class lounges etc.We currently expanding (work at the second location in Calgary @ 4930 - 74 Ave SE) and is seeking a motivated individual with stone / Tile / Cabinet working experience or knowledge (preferred) to join our estimating and project managing team.The successful candidate will be comfortable managing the customer experience and relationship, while ensuring an active portfolio of ongoing projects move successfully through their lifecycle to completion – from quote to approval, to execution and final inspection. Attention to detail and an entrepreneurial spirit are required, who also is an effective and influential communicator, adept at managing and organizing trades, and who has a thorough understanding of residential and commercial construction.JOB SUMMARY

  • Project cost estimating, scheduling, managing subcontractors, change management, creating drawings and CAD data, client correspondence, troubleshooting issues in production
  • Gathers details and compiles data to estimate all production costs according to specifications.
  • Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
  • Helps determine necessary resources for projects based on cost estimates and budgetary constraints.
  • Demonstrates a certain degree of creativity and latitude while relying on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform project estimate functions.
  • Is a team player who works with the field staff and other bid team functions to create a comprehensive scope solution
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Attends proposed project site visit/assessment. Performs bid preparations and material quantity take-offs.
  • Prepares accurate and competitive control estimates for projects assigned to them.
  • Prepares cost estimates and proposal documents for construction projects or services.
  • Obtains comparative quotations for materials and subcontractor services.
  • Compares subcontractor proposals with required project scope, determine proposal completeness, and assembles all proposal files in preparation of the estimates.
  • Develops risk assessment for constructability issues for scopes of work required and requested.
  • Coordinates all subcontractor costs, management fees, and general conditions to ensure complete project estimate. Developing RFIs and bid clarifications to ensure adequate scope and subcontractor coverage.
  • Reads & understands scope solutions to ensure all costs are calculated.
  • Manage change orders throughout the duration of the project, including negotiating, assessing cost and schedule impact;
REQUIREMENTS:
  • 5 years in estimating role or previous field construction work with a strong desire to learn.
  • Familiarity with woodwork and countertop or tile industry is an asset
  • Ability to read & interpret construction plans & specifications.
  • Excellent Math skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to communicate effectively amongst multiple groups and end users.
  • Ability to effectively manage time to complete multiple proposals at once.
  • A bachelors degree in a related field is desired, but not an absolute requirement.
  • Prepare and update time schedule of projects to ensure projects are completed within established deadlines;
  • Oversee and participate in contract negotiations as required with vendors and senior staff;
  • Monitor cost and quality of the work to ensure high standards are met;
  • Communicate the status on all projects to management while leading direct communications with clients;
  • Manage change orders throughout the duration of the project, including negotiating, assessing cost and schedule impact;
  • 5+ years’ experience working in a construction coordination/project management role
  • Comfortable in a pressurized, time-sensitive environment.
  • Experience running multiple projects simultaneously.
Capable of identifying risks and mitigating exposure to risk/loss.Education:
  • Bachelors Degree (preferred)
