The Alberta Children’s Hospital is a modern facility located towards the west side of Calgary and is easily accessible from a number of major arterial roads. The location affords an unobstructed view of the Rocky Mountains. The hospital boasts 141 inpatient beds within four medical units and a children’s’ mental health unit. In addition, we have the Rotary Flames House that provides palliative care and community-based hospice services for children with life limiting illnesses. AHS Peace Officers must be acutely aware of the empathy required while at same time continuing to maintain their authority and ensure the safety of our patients, staff and visitors.Description:This position is responsible and accountable for providing direction, team leadership and organization over the activities of the Protective Services team in support of the vision, mission and business plan of Alberta Health Services. The position is responsible and accountable for making unit-level decisions and having direct leadership responsibility for contributing to the achievement of the goals of Protective Services. The Team Lead / Community Peace Officer I for Protective Services will develop and maintain strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. The Team Lead is also responsible for ensuring all team members develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of all position related policies and procedures. The Team Lead will train and mentor front line Protective Services staff. This is inclusive of, but not limited to, probationary and ongoing training in relation to routine operational requirements, crisis intervention and code response. The Team Lead also assumes a lead role in emergency response, including deployment of staff and resources and informing management and administration of emergent issues and untoward incidents.
