This position will provide you with autonomy, as you will be required to take the lead on diverse projects including, the day-to-day administration of the department, entrepreneurship training program and manage the client inquiries with minimal supervision. Your core duties will involve learning a diversity of new economic development, business marketing and public administration skills as you help create and deliver core department operations, including but not limited to; event planning, file management, research and reporting, client communications such as the newsletter, and SMARTstart entrepreneurship training program administration. In addition, you will be a front-line point of contact and face of the Economic Development department for the public. As the Economic Development Coordinator, you will have the opportunity to further develop your exceptional time management, communication, and detail orientation skills with the diverse tasks you will take a lead on in this role. This is the perfect role for a positive, effective communicator (written and oral), who listens actively and has the ability to work effectively on their own or collaborating with others to develop effective solutions. You are energized by helping people and will have the opportunity to hone your exceptional customer service, prioritization and resourcefulness in dealing with public inquiries, licensing and supporting a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders. To be the best fit for this position, you have a minimum of 2 years previous related experience in economic development, marketing, business or entrepreneurship and have developed the ability to conceptualize the big picture, while understanding the steps required to transform the vision into reality. Post-secondary education in a related field such as Economic Development, Business Administration, Commerce or Marketing, advanced level of computer proficiency in MS Office, creative thinking and strong initiative will help you to be successful in this role. Preference will be given to those with previous experience in business development, business ownership or operations.Term & Salary: This is a Full-Time (35 hours per week) position.
