Job Description

We are looking for a Line Cook/ Prep Cook to work with our kitchen crew in accordance with current health and food handling guidelines and regulations. Your main tasks will be cooking, chopping, slicing and preparing ingredients as needed. As a line cook, you should be detail-oriented, patient and able to follow instructions. You will be asked to prepare meats, poultry and fish according to our recipes. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Experience in food service is considered an asset. We are looking for someone with technical expertise in cooking who is willing to learn new aspects of the trade. Ideally, you should like working in a busy kitchen environment under considerable pressure to get food out on time.Line Cooks must be able to remain on their feet, both standing and walking, throughout their shift, be able to lift and carry up to 25 kg. We are looking for individuals with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.The duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Reviewing the daily production sheets with the Chef and preparing the necessary food items.
  • Adhering to standardized recipes and specifications in order to maintain consistency and ensure all standards are met.
  • Keeping workstations clean and organized including refrigerators, freezers, countertops, and stove tops.
  • Ensuring that station opening and closing procedures are carried out to the expected standard.
  • Keeping overproduction and food waste to a minimum in order to reduce food cost expense.
  • Ensuring that all food products are handled, rotated, labeled, stored, prepared, and served in accordance with government Food Safety Guidelines and reporting all deficiencies in the quality of food to the Chef in a timely manner.
  • Operating kitchen equipment as intended and following all manufacturers and safety guidelines and recommendations.
