(CGF), Ceylon, SaskatchewanTERMS OF WORK: Permanent, Full-timeREPORTS TO: Feedlot ManagerJOB SUMMARY: The primary role of the Front-End Crew Worker is to ensure optimal herd health through proper induction and re-handling of cattle. They are responsible for the proper administration of vaccines, implants, ear tags, etc. when processing cattle. The Front-End Crew Worker is responsible for recording accurate weights and sorting cattle as required for marketing purposes. The Front-End Crew Worker assists the feedlot manager in all aspects of the feedlot, yard and pen maintenance while providing a low-stress environment for cattle.COMPANY OVERVIEW: Previously Borderline Feeders, Ceylon Gap Feeders is owned and operated by five top feedlot owners in Alberta. They focus heavily on consistency, food safety and environmental and economic sustainability.CORE COMPETENCIES: · Reliability· Attention to Detail· Adaptability/Flexibility· Integrity Driven· Teamwork· Initiative· Basic Computer Skills· Written & Oral communication· Cattle Handling & Health Knowledge & Skills· Safety OrientedDUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:· Follow all standard operation procedures for processing cattle.· Adhere to cattle processing schedules as instructed by Feedlot Manager.· Count cattle before and after indoctrination, sorting, weighing, implanting, boostering, etc.· Record animal ID and any treatments that may be necessary beyond the processing protocol (i.e., band castrations, pink-eyes, abscesses).· Prepare and move cattle from one area to another, including shipping and receiving cattle.· Follow all procedures for handling, restraining, and moving cattle.· Communicate with Pen Checkers regarding cattle movements.· Clean and maintain facilities, pens, and equipment daily.· Clean and maintain water bowls regularly.· Other duties as assigned by Feedlot Manager.EQUIPMENT: · Truck· Cattle Handling Equipment· Loader· Squeeze· Processing Equipment (Syringes, etc.)· Chemical Sprayer· Computer· Skid Steer· TractoKEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:The Front-End Crew Worker will be will have regular daily communication with other members of the front-end crew and the Feedlot Manager(s). The Front-End Crew Worker will also have regular communication with office staff and other managers. The Front-End Crew Worker may have occasional communication with customers, contractors, and delivery personnel.EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: · Experience working in the Agriculture industry is preferred· Experience working on a feedlot is preferredTRAINING: · On-the-job training will be provided, as needed.· Additional training may also be provided such as First-Aid training, Firearms Safety Training, as needed.WORKING CONDITIONS: The Front-End Crew Worker generally works approximately 50 hours per week. The Front-End Crew Worker schedule and working hours are determined based on feedlot needs but generally is from 7:00am until 5:00pm daily.The Front-End Crew Worker is exposed to all environmental conditions working outdoors. This includes, but not limited to exposure to the elements such as sun, wind, rain, snow, hot and cold temperatures. The Front-End Crew Worker should wear clothing appropriate to the weather conditions each day.BENEFITS: Full-time, permanent incumbents of this position are eligible for company benefits programs including health, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance benefits, after three months of employment. A company matching RRSP plan up to 4% is offered after one year of employment.REMUNERATION: Remuneration for this position is based on experience and quality of work.
