Job Description

Role SummaryAs the Senior Accountant, you will have a hands-on role supporting the Accounting Manager in managing the daily accounting operations of the operating companies. You will lead the general accounting team and ensure the timely and accurate delivery of financial statements and management reports. You will report directly to the Accounting Manager. Responsibilities

  • Assist with managing the day-to-day accounting operations and the timely close of month-end/year-end processes, including GL reconciliations and the preparation of Balance Sheet/Income statement variance analysis reports and other management reports.
  • Support the development and maintenance of timely and accurate financial statements and reports in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Liaise with external accountants to prepare the company’s annual financial statements.
  • Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with the company’s accounting policies and procedures.
  • Ensure proper monthly revenue reporting through daily review and reconciliation of sales entries and receipts.
  • Maintain the foreign exchange conversion tables, tax rates, and other mapping processes affecting sales entries.
  • Assist with managing Canadian and US sales taxes and corporate taxes for all operational entities.
  • Work closely with Finance Team-members to review processes, implement best practices and enhance productivity.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining management reporting, executive dashboard reporting and KPIs using the company’s business intelligence reporting platform (SEI).
  • Ensure company compliance with all regulatory and governmental agencies.
  • Support the Finance Team on special projects.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to the team, and address performance issues through one-on-one meetings and annual performance reviews
  • Partner in the attraction and selection of new Team-members, and conduct orientations and trainings
  • Monitor, motivate and communicate progress on key goals and initiatives to Team-members
  • Develop materials, policies and procedures and provide on-going training to Team-members
Qualifications
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of progressive experience as a Senior Accountant with 1-3 years of experience managing teams.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Team, and Outlook.
  • Experience working within a multi-currency environment.
  • Experience in manufacturing and inventory accounting.
  • Experience in an eCommerce environment with high transaction volume is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Sage 300 and/or QuickBooks Online is an asset.
  • Demonstrates high energy with the ability to remain flexible and change priorities in a challenging and fast-paced environment.
  • Capable problem solver who follows rigorous logic to bring practical solutions to complex problems.
  • Strong commitment to personal excellence and willingness to go the extra mile.
  • Flexibility to support beyond core business hours when necessary.
