The Gateway Status of Women Council (GSWC) is a feminist organization that aims to support gender equality on the Southwest Coast of Newfoundland.The GSWC is seeking a friendly, engaging, and self-motivated summer student to take on the role of Program and Event Coordinator.The Program and Event Coordinator will be responsible for the planning, advertising, facilitating, and documenting of special programs and events taking place throughout the summer. The Program and Event Coordinator will provide a friendly, welcoming, and inclusive space for all program and event attendees, and represent the feminist principles of the Gateway Status of Women Council.(This is a Canada Summer Jobs grant)Tasks & Responsibilities: · Plan, coordinate, and facilitate programming and special events (e.g., Women in Motion program)· Identify and assist with the coordination of fundraising activities· Ensure all programming and events associated with the Gateway Status of Women Council are grounded in feminist principles and are inclusive to women/gender diverse folks from all demographics· Create and distribute advertisement material to promote programs and events· Communicate directly with program and event attendees· Assist in troubleshooting logistical issues that may arise during programs and events· Assist Executive Director and Executive Assistant with identifying the materials needed for each program and event, as well as assist in developing budgets for the aforementioned· Assist Outreach Coordinator with Personal Care Program as needed· Help create, distribute, and analyze feedback forms for programs and events, and make suggestions on how to improve these activities for the future· Record and maintain event data for reporting purposes· Other duties as requiredQualifications: · Able to work independently while meeting goals and deadlines· Effective communication skills· Proficient computer skills· Able to provide an excellent client experience· Driver’s license and access to a vehicle is an assetEQUITY STATEMENT: Gateway Status of Women Council embraces diversity and is committed to greater equity in our employment.
