Bi-Weekly Hours: 75.0 hours bi-weekly (Commencing Immediately)The PEI Department of Finance and Treasury Board Secretariat aims to encourage the development of an innovative, diverse and inclusive workforce which enables the organization to realize its goals. The position of Audio Visual Tech is responsible for technical support of provincial assets, which would include but not limited Life Safety Communications Platforms, visual and audible communication via mass notification, pre-recorded messaging, paging, intercom, messaging displays, email alerts, synchronized clocks, video surveillance devices and systems in use and in anticipated use by all divisions of government, government departments, agencies and crown corporations. Also to provide consulting, design, maintenance and repair services for all services.Duties will include: - Inspect, install, troubleshoot, repair, monitor, wire, manage and service of Life Safety Communications Platforms and video surveillance;- Receive and action Life Safety Communication requests, incident reports, etc. in accordance with ITSS Group Policy Procedures;- Restore Systems by replacing faulty modules or components, onsite when possible, or remotely if need be;- Document / report preparation of the work until completed;- When necessary, develop alternatives to sustain production and circumvent temporary malfunctions;- Observe all safety rules and refer to National Electrical Code as necessary;- Ensure each piece of equipment has a complete, legible tag indicating it’s owner’s contact information, make, model and serial number, date received, fault observed and any accessories supplied with the device;- Ensure that the device is packaged in such a way as to prevent the separation of the device and its accessories, cords and so on;- Move device from storage to workbench, observing safe handling practices and enlisting assistance when necessary;- Extraction of video surveillance for use for City Police, RCMP, Health sites, Gov’t Sites and Education sites, and deliver evidence to the requestor;- A wide service vehicle is required to be stocked and restocked with the service parts and test equipment;- Responsible to ensure parts needed to complete the tasks are on board;- Research a variety of parts and associated costs;- Follow up on orders to ensure that goods ordered have been received;- Other duties as required.QualificationsMinimum Qualifications: - The successful completion of Electronics Engineering Technologist diploma and/or Two (2) Years of relevant post-secondary course in the Electronics field (Electronics Engineering Technology);- Considerable related experience including Two (2) years of current and Progressives experience related to in-depth troubleshooting of electronic circuitry, diagnosis, service and repair of electronic equipment ranging from simple unit to complex systems and subsystems;- Eligible to be certified as a CET (Certified Electronics Technologist);- Demonstrated equivalencies will be considered;- Must have considerable experience in repair maintenance and design of Smart and Non Smart Public address systems, multimedia equipment and CCTV;- Must have considerable experience and knowledge with micro-computer hardware and software, computer based equipment with considerable knowledge in software controlled data acquisition and procession equipment;- Strong knowledge of Smart Public address and nonlinear mixers matrix programming software, CareHawk Life Safety Communications, Dukane Canada, Bogan Multicomms 2000 Life safety Communications, Telecor 2/XL, Lectnet2, Ashley, Audia Pro Audio systems, and the ability to backup, restore and make minor changes;- Working knowledge of Creston robotics programming and controls, SLIC audio capture systems;- Must have strong ability to work under stressful conditions and Demonstrable initiative, judgment, and dependability in critical thinking, priority setting, collaboration and conflict resolution;- Must have strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, leadership and collaborative skills; and ability to plan and think strategically;- Must have strong working knowledge MS operating systems;- Must have a valid driver’s license, and an acceptable driving record;- Recognizing maintenance requirements for vehicles and other safety-related checks;- Must have proper lifting skills for moving large heavy, equipment parts and enclosures;- Applicants must have a good previous work and attendance record;- The successful applicant must provide a satisfactory Criminal Records Check prior to beginning employment; Other Qualifications: - knowledge of Linux operating systems would be an asset.Preference will be given to UPSE Civil Employees as per the UPSE Civil Collective Agreement.
