Job Description

BIOVECTRA Inc. is a leading bio-science business in Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia, focused on contract manufacturing and product development of active pharmaceutical ingredients, pharmaceutical intermediates, and bioreagents.BIOVECTRA Inc. has an opening for a Category Manager. This is a permanent, full-time position located in Charlottetown, PEI.The candidate will be responsible for:

  • Leading the category management program incorporating sound quality, economic, ethical, and performance-based elements. Aligning the overall category management strategy with BU (Business Unit) procurement needs, and QMS (Quality Management System) requirements engaging cross functionally with all stake holders.
  • Oversight and on-going refinement of BIOVECTRA’s category management program to ensure it remains relevant to the business, while consistently delivering maximum value.
  • Managing inventory master file classification to enhance spend analytics, validate baseline spend characteristics, identify savings opportunities and to support robust RFP/RFQ processes.
  • Identifying category and corresponding supply chain risk elements, developing mitigation strategies, and implementing corresponding action plans.
  • Establishing and reporting appropriate category and contract management metrics.
  • Staying current with new technologies required by BioVectra and sharing other advances in the marketplace with BU stake holders which have potential to add value, improve quality or build supply chain capabilities.
SHARED – JOB DUTIES:
  • Ensuring all contracts and agreements are properly catalogued to support contract performance management and reporting.
  • Collaborating with business unit stake holders to ensure supply / services contracts are compliant with BIOVECTRA policies and procedures. Leading or assisting with contract and agreement negotiations.
  • Providing training, coaching, supervision (when applicable) and expertise to procurement team members in respective program pillar.
  • Designing and implementing cost savings strategies or programs.
  • Meeting with suppliers as required to maintain and strengthen the business relationship to maximize value, while minimizing risk.
  • Managing RFP, RFQ or similar competitive bid processes using standardized methods, tools and processes.
  • Migrating hidden spend to visible spend using SKU creation or vendor managed inventory programs.
  • Ensuring the supplier - stock code cross reference system is properly structured, secured and maintained.
  • Implementing assigned procurement on-boarding strategies for new projects across all business units.
  • Sourcing goods and services in global setting, ensuring alignment with the category management program and strategic requirements.
  • Providing on-going program management and activity reporting.
  • Adhering to BIOVECTRA’s Health and Safety Policy as outlined in CP0010 Occupational Health and safety Policy, Statements of Principle, and Responsibilities.
  • Additional duties assigned, based on business needs and department management request.
The successful candidate for this position should have:
  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant field.
  • Five years of category management, supplier management or similar procurement and/or industry experience in a highly regulated environment.
  • Experience working with Syspro, or similar ERP programs is required.
