THE OPPORTUNITYThe Health and Safety Coordinator will work alongside with the Regional Team and local operations, and be responsible for completing various administrative duties such as, entering data into excel spreadsheets, reporting, uploading monitoring and enforcing compliance with national programs and participating in audits, monthly meetings and inspections.In addition to safety, this position will also play a role in operations analytics. They will pull data, create weekly, monthly and quarterly reports.JOB DUTIES
  • Develop Health and safety stats and trending analysis for local and regional sites.
  • Performs data entry to ensure quality on incident tracking systems, monitor and set for approval, create reports
  • Standardize and develop PowerPoint presentations for provincial and site specific training requirements
  • Provide support and administrative assistance to the health and safety team.
  • Communicate information to employees regarding health and safety policies and procedures through presentations
  • Prepare detailed statistical trend analysis and develop reports and presentations including the preparation of graphs and charts.
  • Responsible for communication on safety bulletin boards and develop other means of communication.
  • Attend, facilitate and participate in weekly safety talks, monthly meetings and audits.
  • Electronic filing to be done on a daily basis to ensure employee compliance regarding onboarding and continuous annual training requirements
  • Processing and finalizing reports to be completed in a timely matter
  • Manage our H&S data base (Safety Environment Management System SEMS)
  • Assist in safety audits, COR compliance (Assist in workplace inspections and safety audits)
  • Ensure active participation and monthly compliance with all Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee (JOSH).
  • Assist when required in Incident Reporting.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Post-secondary education (degree or diploma) in health and safety. Or equivalent education and experience. Construction (or transportation) experience would be as asset.
  • 1-3 years’ experience as an Administrative assistant or in a related role.
  • General working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety legislation and industry safety standards.
  • Willing to travel, Prince Edward Island Driver’s License.
  • Strong computer proficiency including MS Office, power point, excel and computer databases.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication and presentation skills.
  • Self-starting proactive individual who can work well independently and in a team environment. Attention to detail.
  • Able to work well under pressure and meet set deadlines.
  • Proven ability to work independently in a busy and varied environment.
  • Energetic, goal oriented, enthusiastic and a positive attitude.
