Salary:Classification 8 ($25.97 - $26.77 per hour), as per BCGEU Support Collective Agreement. Temporary employees also receive an additional $0.56/hr. in lieu of benefits, as well as having 6% vacation pay paid out with each pay. Support staff at this location are paid an additional $0.65 per hour as an isolation allowance.Description:To provide general janitorial, maintenance and some specific security duties for the campus. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that the facility is secured and locked up; resetting security systems after power failures; sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, polishing floors, and emptying garbage. Performing general grounds work to maintain lawns, water, and weeding, apply fertilizer and herbicides, or sand and salt as required, shoveling sidewalks during winter months. Performing minor maintenance and repairs such as painting, adjusting doors, unplugging toilets, and changing pumps and valves; minor electrical repairs such as changing light tubes/bulbs.Qualifications:Institutional custodial training and experience is preferred; with maintenance experience being a requirement. Heavy physical effort is required to operate cleaning and grounds maintenance equipment (e.g., weed trimmer, lawn mower, etc.). Must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively and have excellent interpersonal skills. Being an effective team member is essential. Current Driver #39;s license is required.
