Under the direction of the Director, Communications and Marketing, become an integral part of our department and we will invest in your future aspirations.The responsibilities of this fast-paced position include responding quickly to a changing environment, developing comprehensive integrated communications plans, and supporting tactics, media relations, project management, and relationship-building. In all of this, you will exemplify the County’s vision: First in building sustainable, prosperous, and safe communities.Primary duties will include:Assisting in developing internal and external strategic communication plans and materials to support operational initiatives, municipal programs, and issues managementDay-to-day operational requirements include preparing communication materials and responding to issues while working with County departments to ensure accuracy and consistency of department, project, and corporate messagingWriting, editing, coordinating, and managing communications associated with the development of communications plans, newsletters, news releases, advertisements, fact sheets, briefing notes, special events, and other communicationsWorking with clients, designers, printers, vendors, and marketing agencies to create effective communications and advertising productsProducing and posting web and social media contentUsing social media to advance storytelling, information sharing, and external communications effortsManaging media relations and potential issues, including developing proactive/reactive strategies with consistent and timely messagingProviding administrative support to the DirectorPost-secondary diploma or degree in Communications, Public Relations, or JournalismRelevant experience in corporate communications, preferably in the public sectorMembership with International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) or Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) an assetPassionate about writing engaging stories with extensive knowledge of communication practices and principlesAdvanced computer skills, organizational and written communication skills, and the ability to learn and adapt to changing situationsExperience in print and digital designSelf-starter with the ability to work independently in a time-efficient mannerPossession of a valid class 5 Alberta driver #39;s license and satisfactory driving recordThe ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic team player with great attention to detail.This position is temporary full-time, for 17 months with the possibility of extension, and includes benefits.
