Job Description

For more information, visit www.cornwall.caOverviewReporting to the Manager of Human Services, the Program Supervisor is responsible for providing support, coaching and guidance to the staff who assist those applying for Ontario Works benefits and the referral of these individuals to local human services agencies, as well as other pertinent Government programs. The Program Supervisor collaborates with the managers, supervisors, and staff across the department to identify opportunities for integration, provide recommendations, and support implementation. This includes identifying and measuring organizational integration efforts and client outcomes. Other responsibilities of the role include:

  • Lead a team of Case Managers and Administrative Clerical Support who are responsible for the administration of employment, income and life stabilization aspects of the Ontario Works programs
  • Strategic management transformation and implementation including modernization and service integration
  • Guide staff through changes in service delivery, improving processes to meet future needs and the provincial vision for transformation
  • Advise, interpret and evaluate information and ministry standards to improve existing programs or to develop new approaches or processes
  • Facilitate development of staff by maintaining a supportive team environment, including ongoing coaching, training, and mentorship
  • Support in preparation of department budget and monitor program expenditures
  • Collaborate with other staff and work on building teamwork/high performance teams
  • Respond effectively to clients and staff while ensuring compliance with organizational policies, the collective bargaining agreement, and legislative requirements
  • Quality Assurance by assisting staff through auditing and review of cases with a focus on the objectives of the Ontario Works program
  • Complete and maintain statistical data/reports for Ontario Works programs
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Post secondary degree or diploma in a related field coupled with five to seven years of experience in Human Services field; must have recent leadership experience
  • Experience working in a unionized environment will be considered an asset
  • Demonstrated strong commitment to ongoing learning and self-development, possess excellent interpersonal, presentation, delegation and problem-solving skills. This includes strong research and computer skills
  • Experience with Ontario Works and knowledge of SAMS or related Ministry programs
  • Personify the values of integrity, trust, ethics and values while being a relentless pursuer of self-development
