Job Description

Join the City of Medicine Hat as a Journeyman MillwrightPermanent, Full time, On SiteThe City of Medicine Hat Electric Generation department has proudly supplied safe and reliable power to our community and surrounding areas for over 100 years. We are currently seeking a Journeyman Millwright to join our dedicated maintenance team and contribute to our ongoing commitment to operational excellence.In this role, you will be responsible for troubleshooting and performing both routine and project-based maintenance on a wide range of power plant equipment. This includes LM6000 gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, gas and air compressors, and various other systems critical to the continuous 24/7 operation of both the Power Plant and Water Treatment Plant.Our ideal candidate:

  • Demonstrated maintenance skills to repair, overhaul, servicing of Combined Cycle Poweramp; Municipal Water Plant equipment.
  • Committed to safety and knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to express ideas clearly and effectively orally and in writing to be part of an effective work planning process that utilizes work orders, planners, and part staging.
  • Monitor and/or assist any specialized contractors needed to perform maintenance and repairs at the power plant
  • Support Call out maintenance for equipment repairs, ensure the priority level for repairs is communicated as required.
  • Proficiency utilizing a CMMSamp; strong understanding of basic Microsoft programs
Qualifications:
  • Alberta Journeyman Industrial Mechanic - Millwright certificate.
  • Five (5) years maintenance experience with electric generation power plant and municipal water treatment plant equipment; i.e. steam generators, steam and combustion turbines, gas and air compressors, filter beds, piping, welding, pumps, fans, lubrication systems, etc.
  • Consideration for Vocational training combined with industrial plant experience in a mechanical field such as Heavy Duty mechanics, Gas Turbine Engine Technician, etc.
  • Additional certifications and training requirements provided on hire.
  • Valid Class 5 driver #39;s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • This position has been identified as Safety Sensitive and requires the completion of a satisfactory pre-employment drug screen.
