Do you have a passion for forest management, resource applications and integrated resource planning Do you have an operational forest development background and the ability to think strategically about accessing timber while meeting stewardship requirements Are you able to use GIS and technology to support forest management decision making or to gain approvals through the enhanced approval processForsite Consultants Ltd is looking for a Resource Planner/Analyst with strong communication, facilitation skills and analytical skills to support our clients in Ontario and across Canada. The successful applicant will become a technical leader working with Forsite’s senior planners & analysts as well as clients to deliver tactical and strategic planning projects. The position requires a minimum of 5 years of forest planning experience in Canada, a Post-secondary education with a natural resource management focus and professional forester/technician accreditation.WHO WE AREForsite is a dynamic forest management services company serving government and industry clients for 35 years. In addition, some projects will require you to work outside of the forest regulatory process and apply your broad skill sets to meet the needs of other resource based clients. You should have a demonstrated problem solving ability, strong written and oral communications skills and an ability to comprehend and manipulate resource data within complex and challenging planning situations.Potential types of projects the successful candidate will contribute to include forest operational planning, fibre analyses, growth & yield programs, forest management plans, forest health planning projects, forest inventory, wildfire hazard assessments, stakeholder engagement, and carbon accounting.ACCOUNTABILITY:Time management and project budgets. Assist with marketing and sales efforts. Supervision of multiple projects / subcontractors.MARKETING/SALES:Supporting role in the development of bids and proposals. Provide feed-back for future opportunities and potential for new products and services.CULTURE:Embrace a results-focused collaborative environment. Contribute to a positive work and social environment that supports Forsites culture.FOREST MANAGEMENT:Have a background in forestry. Be knowledgeable and experienced in tenures and permitting, timber supply, land use planning, forest management planning, forest inventory and GIS, analytics, forest estate modelling.ENVIRONMENT:Awareness of environmental management systems and ability to help clients achieve their environmental goals through comprehensive planning.PROJECT MANAGEMENT:Act as project leader on planning projects as directed by the manager. Apply specialized knowledge in forest management and project management in the successful completion of projects under your direction. Ensure project accountability is assigned and monitored. Create environment within the project team that fosters open communication and continuous improvement.CLIENT LIAISON:Support the translation of client concerns/challenges into projects designed to provide a solution. Ensure client expectations are clear and met within projects. Manage client expectations, scope issues, and billings.SAFETY:You are committed to working safely and to maintain a safe work environment for others.TECHNOLOGY:Proven ability in GIS, tablets, data analysis & data management, and MS Office suite of tools.COMMUNICATION/FACILITATION:Provide exceptionally clear written and verbal communications to ensure project inputs are correct and project results lead to informed decision making.
