The City of Delta is looking for dedicated individuals to join our team and share in our commitment to lead the way in public service excellence.Construction Site OfficerAre you a highly motivated self-starter who enjoys working with residents and builders Are you an effective communicator and problem-solver with a background in the building industry If so, the City of Delta invites you to apply for this Construction Site Officer position, working within the Building Division of Delta’s Community Planning & Development Department.The successful candidate will provide overall coordination to residents and builders who would like to authorize secondary suites, acting as the single point of contact for secondary suite applicants and coordinating the relevant City approvals. The successful candidate will also work with the Building Division team and Delta’s building community to monitor construction, ensure that construction work sites are maintained appropriately, provide advice and information to residents and builders, and resolve construction-related issues.The successful candidate will have: considerable knowledge of relevant bylaws, regulations and standards; working knowledge of construction trends and environmental best practices; ability to assess compliance with applicable requirements and make recommendations to residents and builders; ability to interpret and explain applicable policies, bylaws, and regulations; ability to enforce regulations with firmness, tact and good judgement; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and to use tact and diplomacy in resolving conflicts and achieving compliance; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and coordinate the work of others; ability to prepare and maintain records and reports related to the work; and, ability to work outside in all weather conditions.Desirable qualifications include completion of a diploma program in construction management plus some related instructional or enforcement experience, and eligibility for BOABC Level 1 certification, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
