Elections CoordinatorDelta, British Columbia, CanadaLocation: City HallEmployment group: ExemptHours of Work: 35 Hour Work WeekJob ID: 22-52 EXOne of the sunniest regions in BC’s Lower Mainland, Delta embraces three unique communities – Ladner, North Delta and Tsawwassen. The City of Delta is looking for dedicated individuals to join our team and share in our commitment to lead the way in public service excellence.This temporary position is involved in assisting with planning, coordinating and conducting the 2022 Local Government Election which will take place on October 15, 2022. This is a temporary contract from March to December, 2022.Under the direction of the Chief and Deputy Chief Election Officers, the Elections Coordinator will be responsible for a variety of duties, including:

  • Ensuring all required election procedures are observed and enforced
  • Assisting with the hiring, assigning and training of election day staff
  • Ordering and preparing supplies for the voting places
  • Managing the distribution of ballots and automated vote tabulators for voting places
  • Assisting with the preparation of statutory notices, advertisements and information materials
  • Assisting with the production of the Voters List
  • Preparation of forms, statistics and reports
Job RequirementsHigh school graduation, including or supplemented by business courses; sound related experience in local government electoral procedures; familiarity with local government legislation; superior organizational and communications skills; detail oriented; ability to research and analyze; ability to maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts; ability to lift up to 30 lbs and have the manual dexterity to easily handle boxes of supplies and other related materials; ability to work under pressure and to multi-task; other duties as required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office with familiarity with web-based applications. A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence and vehicle are required. Some evening and weekend work is required.Protecting the health and safety of our community and employees remains our number one priority.
