The City of Delta is looking for dedicated individuals to join our team and share in our commitment to lead the way in public service excellence.Mapping TechnicianThe City of Delta is looking for a full time Mapping Technician to join our Engineering Department. In this technical role you will be responsible for preparing and maintaining the Municipal base, legal, and utility servicing maps and will record and compute related non graphic data using computer assisted techniques such as AutoCAD and GIS Software (Munsys & ESRI). You will utilize a wide variety of source data and prepare and/or revise drawings and maps for a variety of engineering projects. You will work as a primary QA/QC reviewer of drawings and engineering infrastructure assets to ensure spatial accuracy and quality of data to adhere to the Engineering Department’s CAD/GIS standards and procedures.To be successful in this role, your technical skills include:Knowledge of coordinate geometry and survey computations.Knowledge of industry mapping standards, requirements and principles.Knowledge of computer-assisted mapping techniques including AutoCAD Map 3D, ESRI suite of products and Microsoft applications.Ability to use Munsys or ArcSDE database software, FME, and ETL (Extract, Transform and Load) conversion software.Understanding of Municipal engineering design principles, drafting techniques and procedures.In addition, you have strong communication skills, ability to comprehend and adapt new techniques and are able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal staff, developers, consultants and general public.The successful candidate has completed the 12th school grade as well as courses in computerized mapping at an Institute of Technology, plus some related Municipal mapping experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. A professional engineering designation with an accredited institution (i.e., ASTTBC; GISP/ESRI Certification) is desirable. A Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence for the Province of British Columbia is required.The City of Delta provides a competitive salary of $33.56 - $39.50 per hour (commensurate with experience) and an excellent benefits package including Municipal Pension Plan as well as an earned-days-off system.
