Job Description

We are looking for a Plant Supervisor for Merlin Plastics.The plant supervisor is the over-all supervisor of the operational system of the plant. He is responsible for planning, organizing, and regulating the production and maintenance operations.As the plant supervisor you are responsible for directing and coordinating the daily operations of the manufacturing plant. This includes developing efficiency strategies to ensure the plant meets production goals and standards at minimal manufacturing costs.The plant supervisor works directly with department heads to coordinate purchasing, production and distribution operations. Duties include instituting policies and procedures, training supervisors and administrators, maintaining a production schedule, giving performance reviews and motivating staff to meet production goals.Some of the duties are the following:

  • Direct and coordinate plant operations within company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and safe plant.
  • Establish and direct plant policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for plant production goals.
  • Establish and maintain a positive community relationship.
  • Foster a well-trained and motivated staff.
  • Confer with department heads to ensure coordination of purchasing, production, and shipping.
  • Responsible for establishing all shift production schedules.
  • Select and train plant supervisory and administrative staff.
  • Conduct employee performance reviews.
  • Schedule and conduct plant meetings.
  • Responsible for the product quality control for the plant.
  • Attend scheduled corporate training and meetings.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCEThe Plant Supervisor needs to be educated with a relevant professional institute qualification with a diploma or degree in production or mechanical engineeringPossess a broad background in mechanical engineering / manufacturing with a widerange of knowledge on manufacturing and production processes. Previous Industry experience required
  • 8+ years experience in profession
  • Post-secondary education is preferred
Must have strong problem solving skills & ‘design for manufacture’ skills.Be comfortable dealing with and efficient in processing paperwork.Must have a working understanding of leadership principles and management bestpractice.Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills for a demanding andcustomer focused working environment.Must have excellent personal organization and business administration skills inaccordance with modern best practice methods.Must be able to build a high performance team who can operate efficiently, effectively,productively and cost effectively.Be personally energetic, dynamic, positive, enthusiastic and possess the ability tothink laterally and act through reasoned decision making.Be able to get things done and make things happen to achieve the aims of productionand the business.Possess the ability to work productively, efficiently & effectively with initiative anddrive under tight timescales and pressure whilst maintaining attention to detail andquality.Safety consciousPossess the ability to implement and manage change in the business.Possess the willingness to learn, improve and adapt.Possess strong computer skills and competency in basic MS Office applications -outlook, excel & word in particular.Quick Apply
