About us:Our team is growing, and Marcon Metalfab (www.marconmetal.com) is hiring an experienced Structural Steel Detailer/Drafter to join our dynamic team based in Delta’s Tilbury Park.For over 30 years, Marcon Metalfab has supplied custom fabricated steel and rubber products required for infrastructure, and other projects in the transportation, building construction, utilities, mining, marine, oil, and gas sectors. • Your job responsibilities would include working alongside and assisting Project Managers on current projects and performing high-level reviews of shop drawings and erection drawings as per Marcon Detailing standards.
• You will gain broad exposure to projects at various stages of the project lifecycle.
• You will help to coordinate between external detailing subcontractors and other departments at Marcon on various projects.
• You will help to control information flow and assist with managing change orders (EWO), schedules, Site Instructions (SI), Back From Approvals (BFA), and RFI’s.
• You will issue shop drawings and Erection drawings to the fabrication department and support the fabrication to make assemblies ready in different stages of projects.

General Responsibilities:

• Maintaining the Project Folder & all relevant information.
• Reviewing, understanding, and ensuring Customer Standards are followed.
• Assisting with detailing and checking operations.
• Responsible for ensuring that ABM, connecting duties have been completed for each deliverable.
• Responsible for releasing shop and field drawing lists for editing.
• Assisting Project Managers and the Team when and if required to help maintain the schedule.
• Performing quality inspections and control on all drawings.
• Reviewing Site Instructions (SI) and Managing SI Log.
• Creating Requests for Information (RFI’s).
• Managing RFI Log and issuing it to clients.
• Follow up on RFI responses to receive the missing information.
• Monitoring and tracking Extra Work Order’s (EWO’s).
• Managing Project Data such as the Rev IFC, IFA, RFA, etc.
• Responsible for issuing shop and field packages.

The Ideal Candidate will have/be:

• Minimum 7 years of experience as a Steel Detailer.
• 3 years experience as a Project Coordinator/Checker with a Detailing or Fabrication company.
• Familiar with Checking or Drafting Quality Control.
• Successful completion of relevant technical education (eg. a Diploma in Steel Detailing or Engineering).
• Knowledge of both AISC and CISC standards.
• Spatial visualization awareness and a decent understanding of industry business practices in detailing engineering, and fabrication.
• Organized with a high level of communication both written and verbal.
• A proactive and logical thinker and problem solver.
• Capable of performing your duties with a minimal amount of supervision.

Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of Computer-assisted design software (including AutoCAD, and Tekla).
• Knowledge of Advance Steel is an Asset.
• Intermediate skills with office software including Microsoft Office, Adobe, and Bluebeam.
• Able to read Structural, Engineering and Architectural drawings.
• Detail-oriented, precise, and organized.
• Able to organize multiple jobs.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Diligent checking and editing work prior to release.
• Asking questions when in doubt or if further information is needed.
