Job Description

Key ResponsibilitiesThis is a regional position covering Canada with a primary focus on Ontario, Quebec and the Maritimes. The Senior Training Specialist has the following responsibilities:

  • Delivery of Electrical Distribution operation and maintenance training for LV & MV equipment:
Instructor lead training (adult learning) is centered on the delivery and development of Schneider Electric’s products & solutions training courses customized to end-user installations. The courses may include third party products as defined in the customers solution. This position will include delivery of distributor partner or employee technical product courses as required. Due to the customized nature of end-user training, interpretation of customer single lines, elevations and other system drawings is required in order to translate these drawings into learning modules.Training courses may be delivered from a Schneider Electric facility, at a customer’s site or virtually. Business travel is required to cover the customer base and candidates must be fit and eligible to travel by all commercial means of travel. We strive to keep travel to a minimum and a technical trainer can expect to be delivering training 50% of the time. The successful candidate may reside in Ontario or Quebec.The position is responsible to coordinate with training administration to ensure that all training materials and hardware are available and in place to successfully conduct each training class with a high degree of professionalism and customer satisfaction, which is measured by customer survey. This position requires good proactive communication with the training coordinator, printers, customer, site personnel and shipping carriers. Heavy lifting is required during the setup and takedown of courses.
  • Course & Training Simulator Development and Maintenance:
Each member of the training team is involved in the upkeep, maintenance, and development of our standard courseware. Strong computer, word processing and writing skills are desirable. Trainers are expected to maintain their equipment in good working order and repair as necessary. This includes ordering replacement parts, hands-on troubleshooting and repair of simulators and computer hardware.
  • Business Development
Work with internal customer facing employees, customers, and distributors to find new training growth opportunities, and prepare training quotations. Build the training sales pipeline by promoting the training offer through social media, in-class promotion and leveraging internal & external relationships. The position is responsible for the creation of an annual training schedule based on the training course portfolio of the trainer. It is important that this training schedule reflects current internal/external customer demands and the attainment of sales quotas.
  • Personal and Professional Development:
The trainer is responsible to ensure that both their product knowledge and skills are current and that they continually improve their soft-skills to incorporate adult education principles and behaviors. This responsibility is accomplished by attending adult educational certification courses and product/technology training, delivery/education techniques. This development includes developing safe, ethical and inclusive work practices aligned with Schneider Electric Trust Charter.
  • Administrative and Reporting:
Assist with training coordination, asset management, planning & scheduling as required, be an active team member and ensure training classes are delivered with quality and customer satisfaction. Manage all company assets ensuring the security and safe keeping of these assets at all times. Handle non-training activities like quoting training, meetings, e-mail, monthly reporting, etc…Required Qualifications and Skills
  • University or College level electrical accreditation, or equivalent electrical trade experience/qualification with low & medium voltage equipment service & maintenance.
  • E.T./R.E.T./PENG
  • Minimum of 5 years of Industrial experience in one or more of the following: service/maintenance, design, training, or technical support role. Preferably with Schneider Electric equipment.
  • Preference to candidates who have adult education certification or equivalent training experience
  • Superior computer skills in a Microsoft Windows/Office environment
  • Excellent communicator with great interpersonal skills and desire to teach
  • Functional knowledge of English and French is required. Must be able to deliver training courses in English and French to clients based in Quebec and other provinces
  • Must be well organized and a self starter
  • Ability to work and travel unsupervised
  • Must be eligible to work and travel in Canada
  • Must be comfortable with travelling by commercial means by air, land or water
  • Car travelling is required- mileage will be paid per company policy
