Job Description

Town of EckvillePUBLIC WORKS FOREMANThe Town of Eckville, the "Community of Choice" in central Alberta, is a prosperous growing community with a host of amenities. Its home to several festivals and events throughout the year, has beautiful walking trails and a spray park, fishing and swimming lakes nearby, and is close to the Medicine Lodge Ski Hill. The Town offers an exceptional quality of life while being just a short drive to several major urban centres.Position Overview:Reporting to the CAO, the Public Works Foreman is responsible for playing a key role in all operations programs and projects for the Town. This includes everything from streets and sidewalks, water and sewer infrastructure, to some maintenance and upkeep of Town infrastructure. This is an excellent career opportunity for a skilled and proven leader who wants to build their career with the Town. This position works Monday - Friday, 40 hours/week.Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and provide supervision to the projects, programs and services delivered by the Public Works department;
  • Operate various pieces of equipment (such as motor grader, wheel loader, skid steer, single axel and tandem dump truck) to perform excavation, trenching and detailed finishing work, grade gravel roads and alleys, perform winter snow plowing and sanding, maintain sidewalks, pedestrian walks, etc.
  • Perform minor repair of Town infrastructure (buildings, vehicles, equipment, parks and playground);
  • Assist with the operation, maintenance and repair of the Towns water and waterwater systems.
Ideal Qualifications:
  • Ability to foster and maintain positive, constructive working relationships with staff, residents, contractors, etc.;
  • A self-starter with strong interpersonal, communication, problem-solving and negotiation skills;
  • Proven supervisory and relevant equipment operation experience, a minimum of a High School Diploma (or GED) and a valid Class 3 Alberta Operators with Air Brake (Q) license (or able to obtain);
  • Hold (or able to obtain) Level 1 in Water Treatment, Distribution, Wastewater Treatment and Collection.
