This position is responsible for the acquisition, quality assurance and control, storage, optimization and distribution of industrial air emissions data submitted to Alberta Environment and Protected Areas (EPA) and the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) by regulated facilities operating within parameters set out in the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act (EPEA).In this role, you will ensure regulatory data is well-governed, highly reliable, and effective in meeting business and regulatory needs, readily accessible and trusted. You will oversee this process, providing essential information, tools, training and trouble-shooting support necessary to ensure high quality data is submitted to the ministry, partners, stakeholders and citizens in a timely manner. You will also contribute to the development and enhancement of databases and will be responsible for maintaining the data they house. This position leads or participates in initiatives designed to ensure regulatory requirements are met while collaboratively working with external stakeholders, policy, operations, service Alberta and AER toward a common goal of complete and validated regulatory air data.The Air Quality Data Supervisor is frequently called upon to provide standard and custom information products, training, expert advice and consultative services. In this role, you will lead and participate in cross-ministry committees, initiatives and projects designed to improve the process as well as the underlying systems and supporting technical infrastructure, working closely with information technology (IT) service providers to maintain, improve and replace existing systems.QualificationsRequirements:A two-year technical diploma in a related field such as environmental sciences plus a minimum of 6 years of related experience in areas such as air quality data management, quality assurance and control, metadata management, standards, analysis and maintaining and developing data systems. A 4-year degree in a related field such as environmental sciences plus a minimum of 4 years of related experience in areas such as air quality data management, quality assurance and control, metadata management, standards, analysis and maintaining and developing data systems.Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of: 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.Assets:Knowledge of the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act (EPEA), related legislation, regulations, policies and guidelines such as the Air Monitoring Directive and Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) code. Knowledge of the technology used to capture stack emissions and ambient air quality, laboratory processes, and working knowledge of SQL, Microsoft 365 and PowerBI.APS CompetenciesCompetencies are behaviours that are essential to reach our goals in serving Albertans. AGILITY: to take a lead role in addressing air data collection systems by identifying problems, deficiencies and/or areas needing enhancements and developing possible solutions . As well as adaptability to process changes and learning new technologies as required. DEVELOP NETWORKS: to collaborate with other stakeholders, on projects to enhance, develop, or revise air quality data systems to achieve higher efficiency on performance, reliability, and accessibility for the data.Salary$2,694.27- $3,537.86 biweekly ($70,320 - $92,338/year)NotesHours of Work: 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
