Build strong relationships with smart, knowledgeable, and diverse people.Construction ManagerThe Construction Manager is responsible for efficiently planning, organizing and directing the building process of all new homes in a project or subdivisions in Edmonton and surrounding areas. The Construction Manager strives to achieve company objectives while maintaining balance between cost, time, quality and safety.What we look for

  • 8 to 10+ years of experience in single or multi-family residential construction.
  • Completion of Civil/Construction Engineering Technologist diploma.
  • Knowledge of construction process, building code and safety code.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software, including a strong knowledge of Excel.

What will you doManaging trades, construction and schedule of work following building code, safety requirements and time deadlines.
  • Manage Site Superintendent across several communities in different geographical areas (East/ West).
  • Walk all homes in that area with Site Superintendent once a week.
  • Rate accomplished production.
  • Check quality, material usage and budget.
  • Train Site Superintendent on all aspects.
  • Responsible for assuring quality of all homes built throughout the various stages of construction.
  • Train Site Superintendents to deliver homes professionally by educating customers on operation of all mechanical systems and warranty procedures.
  • Carry homes as needed a la Site Superintendent.
  • Assist in development of construction systems and processes including construction manual.
  • Improve average cycle time to corporate target.
  • Improve customer satisfaction rating to corporate target.
  • Ongoing recruitment of site superintendent and trades.
  • Coordinates and schedules trade and supply logistics on site.
  • Responsible for monitoring and assessing quality of homes built on a daily basis.
Managing safety requirements.
  • Participate on safety training and maintain strong focus on the same.
  • Follow through of corporate safety and construction processes used on all sites.
  • Delivery and inspection of all work by trades.
Manage cost and budget.
  • Improve 100%, 0 item closing to corporate target.
  • Consistently reduce VPO’S with a target of 0.5% of direct cost per home.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Interviews and trains new staff.
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
  • Orchestrates quality control checks on houses being built.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
