Additionally, a focus on how acute care services integrate with other health sectors will be a key focus – around the entire patient journey in the healthcare system. The team includes clinical specialists, a manager, and senior policy advisor staff. To be successful in the role, the Director will build this team and its capacity by working collaboratively with other divisions in the Ministry, the other units in the Acute Care Division, and with the new Acute Care Organization.Responsibilities:Information, Analysis and Advice - Policy development is supported by appropriate research, analysis and presentation Project Management - Efficient and effective project plans are in place for strategic policy initiatives Content Development - Policy development is supported by appropriate presentation of content tailored to the intended audience Leadership and Accountability - Strategic priorities are identified, planned, and advanced through government #39;s decision-making process in a timeline manner through appropriate analysis, consultation, and political consideration Issues Management - Policy development is supported by proactive issues management Stakeholder Engagement - Planning, development, delivery and supportThe Director of Licensing and Compliance, Emergency Health Services, will lead a team in the Acute Care Division responsible for executing the ambulance operator licensingamp; compliance functions of the Emergency Health Services (EHS) Unit, and providing strategic direction ensuring that key objectives are achieved. The role will ensure the delivery of compliance monitoring and licensing through the effective enforcement and administration of legislation, operator education and oversight of the activities of delegated regulatory authorities. Your unit will be responsible for the subject matter expertise and inspection, investigation and legislative compliance, enforcement and licensing which govern the Emergency Health Services Act and Ground Ambulance Regulations. The position will work in close collaboration with EHS policy, standards and reporting functions for alignment in application of legislation, regulation and standards codes. Internal and external stakeholder relations is required to achieve and maintain successful outcomes. System integration and innovative regulatory models for enabling key health system priorities will form a key focus of this position.Responsibilities:Strategic Leadership – Provide strategic leadership ensuring development and adherence to policy, regulation and applicable standards. Compliance and Monitoring – Working knowledge of inspection, investigation and legislative compliance, enforcement, and licensing. Content and Policy development – Provide direction on policy development and implementation of licensingamp; compliance frameworks, strategies and activities. Information, Analysis and Advice - Policy development is supported by appropriate research, analysis and presentation. Stakeholder Management – Stakeholder engagement to ensure licensingamp; compliance functions are executed effectively. Issues Management – Proactive identification and management of service delivery issues including, licensingamp; contract management, capital assets, service delivery, investigations and overall integrated system improvements.QualificationsA University degree in a related field (e.g. Health, Public or Health Administration, Commerce, Economics, and Business Administration) supplemented by a minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible supervisory experience is required.For the Director of Licensing and Compliance role, experience in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) is preferred however other regulated healthcare / clinical experience will be considered an asset.For the Director of Acute Care Standards, experience in acute care clinical operations such as an emergency department, intensive care unit, or similar operational area is considered an asset.Required experience includes:Demonstrated knowledge of strategic planning Excellent understanding of government structure, legislative frameworks, and the application of legislation in the Alberta health care system Sound knowledge of health care providers and their roles Experience with policy development and challenging multi-stakeholder environments In depth knowledge of health system priorities, acute care and emergency health service delivery, and issues within the political, economic and global environmentA cover letter outlining how your experience relates to the qualifications of this role is required.Related experience or education may be considered as an equivalency one-for-one for one basis of:1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.NotesHours of Work7.25 Daily Hours 36.25 Weekly Hours 8:15AM to 4:30PM (Monday to Friday)LocationEdmonton and Calgary In your resume, please include dates (including months and years) associated with all education and work experience.
