Job Description

Wilco Contractors Northwest Inc. is dedicated to providing long-term quality work with a team that has over 100 years of combined practice in the field of open space site development. With a focus on safety, and fostering aquot;one team spirit quot;, we are looking to add a Herbicide Applicator to join their team. As a Herbicide Applicator at Wilco Contractors Northwest, you will be responsible for applying chemicals and pesticides to control weeds and invasive species on various construction projects.   • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of all herbicide application techniques and equipment.
  • Identify weeds and plant types to determine the best course of action.
  • Travel to various sites operating herbicide applicator equipment, adhering to all company and environmental standards.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of herbicide applications and make necessary adjustments.
  • Record and maintain accurate logs and data of all chemical applications.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety and environmental regulations.
  • Collaborate with other teams and departments to ensure a successful outcome on all projects.
  • Prepare and safely transport herbicides and pesticides to the job site.
Requirements
  • Previous experience related to herbicidal application considered an asset.
  • AB Industrial Pesticide Applicators or AB Authorized Assistant certification
  • Previous experience in a leadership role an asset.
  • Strong shrub and plant identification skills.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License mandatory and capable of driving a 1 or 2 tonne truck. Experience with larger vehicles and trailers and/or air brake endorsement preferred.
  • Ability to work as part of a small team with minimal direct supervision.
  • Farming and/or mechanical background is a strong asset
  • First Aid certification preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations and standards.
