The AAIP is a key program within the Ministry of Immigration and Multiculturalism. It enables Alberta to attract and retain foreign workers and entrepreneurs by supporting their permanent residence application through a provincial nomination based on Alberta’s labour market and economic development priorities.RoleThe Ministry of Immigration and Multiculturalism has an exciting opportunity and is looking for a Program Officer to join our team! Reporting to the Manager, Operations or Assessment Coordinator, the AAIP Program Officer contributes by nominating foreign nationals with the skills and business talent Alberta needs to be competitive in the global economy.The Program Officer may work in any of the AAIP streams. The streams support the attraction and retention of qualified foreign workers to help meet Alberta #39;s current and future skill needs, contribute to the Province #39;s economic development objectives or attract foreign entrepreneurs who have the skills and capital to establish and actively manage a business venture that will contribute significant economic benefits to Alberta.Program Officers are responsible for managing a large number of complex casefiles and making high-impact decisions according to program criteria and statutory requirements. Program decisions involve multi-faceted considerations and result insignificant impacts for applicants and their ability to become permanent residents of Canada. Program Officers have a commitment to provide thorough due diligence, expert advice and excellent client service to a diverse multicultural clientele in a responsive and consistent manner, and in accordance with Ministry and AAIP service standards.To be successful in this role you will need to possess:High degree of judgement conducting assessments and the ability to think innovatively in solving problems. Superior writing (case notes, decision rationale, reports, correspondence) and strong oral (public speaking, presentations) communication skills. Strong ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, officials at all levels, both inside and outside government; clients, and the public. Strong ability to analyze and evaluate policy, trends and emerging issues and provide recommendations to senior management. Proficiency in standard computer applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, CRM).QualificationsRequirements:University degree in Business, Economics, International Relations, Public Administration, Social Science, Law or a related field. Exercising due diligence in validating information presented in accordance with established criteria (e.g. conducting investigations, interviews, researching/following up on facts). Experience in preparing written reports and conducting research and analysis. Experience in dealing directly with clients, stakeholder groups or the general public. Knowledge and comprehension of the Alberta economy and business community. French language skills. Experience delivering immigration programs, developing immigration policy or who have a minimum of 1-year business experience (e.g. business ownership, business consulting and/or evaluation or business management experience).
